Spectacular medieval fortress nestled into the crevices of the mountain rock spikes. Explore all the side trails, nothing takes more than a minute and the views are superb. 1 hour drive from Vidin. A MUST.

Finally a great place. There are about 100 steps here but you can walk as far as comfortable and stop and have spectacular views. I have two knee replacements and made it to the top. There were many others in our group who walked with...More

The idea of building a fortress in the sky combining the beautiful rocks with human ingenuity is marvelous to see. The day was sunny and warm, the views were bread taking, we went to every corner of the fortress, do not miss the Roman Fort...More

The fortress is a great place to visit, BUT, you must be prepared for stairs. The locals have done a lot of work to make this a great place to visit. The fortress is situated in an important cross roads. The strategic fort protected trade...More

..and worth it!! Would easily do the climb again even if twice as stiff. Was among the about 10-15 people from three arriving buses who did the full climb to the top, up steep and narrow stairs carved or cut into the rock, and then...More

To get to the top, you will need to climb approx 200 stairs, but once at the top, you will have great views of the town and some very interesting rock formations. If you're in the area, I'd say this is well worth the effort.

I've been to Belogradchik Fortress on Easter 2017. This place is awesome. It has amazing landscapes. Wherever you'd go, you can take some beautiful pictures and panorama. The entrance is cheap and they are opened till 6 PM I think. Check the schedule in advance,...More

The climb to the top was okay but it was well worth it for the formations and the views for kilometres. The historical perspective was quite interesting and I could see why it was such a great fortress. A few little tourists market stalls completed the...More

To start with it is a long and fairly hard climb to the top of the fortress but it is absolutely worth the effort. Only 3 of our group of over 25 made the entire climb. Some of the climb is up steep stairs cut...More

The information about the price for parking is not correct. The price is 2,40 bulgarian levs (around 1,30 euro) and it is not per hour, but for unlimited time. So either you misunderstood something, or you have been deceived, which is highly unlikely.

We'll be heading to Belogradchik on our way from Sofia to Koprivshtitsa, and we wanted to know a few things. 1. Is parking available outside the Belogradchik and Rocks? 2. Are the Fortress and Rocks considered the same attraction? 3. How much are the entrance feeds for them? Please let us know if there are any tips from your experience.

The rocks are the fortress and surround the fortress. The parking is next to the entrance to the fort. Get a map or a topo-map to walk the rock formations. They cover a large area at different levels. When we visited the... More
How would I find a map of hiking trails near Belogradchik. Saw it for a day as part of a river cruise tour and now I'd like to go back and hike in those incredible mountains.

Sorry, but we didn`t hike in the area. Maybe the best way would be if you go to a tourist office, when you are in Belogradchik and ask for more details. Another way is if you could find a local person, who knows the region... More
