About
Rising above the Mornington Peninsula, Arthurs Seat State Park is a prominent feature in the landscape of Port Philip Bay. The summit provides spectacular views which, on a clear day, can stretch as far as the Melbourne city skyline, the You Yangs and Mount Macedon. For a bird's-eye view, climb aboard the all-weather Arthurs Seat Eagle, a state-of-the-art gondola which soars high above the trees. There are plenty of activities to do in the park. From walking, jogging, photography, picnicking and mountain biking. The park’s most popular attraction is Arthurs Seat summit, where visitors can take in the stunning views while enjoying a picnic or barbecue. Take the pleasant circuit walk to Kings Falls or visit the delightful Seawinds Gardens.

Located at the top station of Arthur's Seat Eagle is this park and grounds. There is a nice circuit walk here that is 1.8km long and takes about an hour at a gentle pace. There are several viewpoints overlooking Port Phillip Bay and a Cairn commemorating Matthew Flinders. There is also some indigenous gardens and ceramic sculptures. The walk is easily accessible apart from a couple of shorter steep stair sections. There are also kangaroos spotted here.

Breathtaking views which on a clear day go for miles. Surprisingly we managed to easily get parking on a public holiday, probably because most people parked at cable car. Definitely worth a visit when in the area - it was a real treat!

If you have travelled up to the summit either by car or gondola, then you are treated to a wonderful coastal view as well as an extensive picnic area. There are also a number of short walks in the area allowing visitors time to relax and survey the scenery before continuing on their journey. There is also an opportunity, if desired, to sit on Arthurs Seat (the third).

Nice hiking trails with great views of,the Tasman sea. We did the 45 minute loop trail from the summit. Great views! You can take a gondola from the city to the summit, but we drove.

What a real treat. Great views nice walks. Even with the weather cool, it was still a great visit. Chairlift wasn’t operating but the drive up was all ok. Not fit enough to walk. On the way back down lots of places to stop and admire the view.

We took the Eagle cable car both up and down to Arthurs Seat...fabulous views out over the bay...if you use the Eagle we would suggest that you book online as there is quite a long wait otherwise...the parking was great because they have people controlling the parking areas and assisting you with parking spots...lovely views from the top of Arthurs Seat...all round great day out and great place to take visitors....

We had a lovely time doing the summit circuit walk! The views here are so beautiful! We were able to see the entire bay from the various lockouts!

Stopped here on the way to Portsea for a stroll around the grounds at Seawinds gardens. Great spot for a view of the peninsula. Several different paths to follow with seats spread around the grounds. Toilet facilities available. And undercover areas for a picnic lunch on cooler days.

Very nice walk but can be 10hours if you do the whole walk. Very hilly obviously so comfortable footwear is recommended

How woul you assess the gradient for walking? Looking for reasonably flat walking space
Written 26 February 2019
There is a reasonably flat walk around the top of the hill. There is a park and you can walk to the park from the adjacent car park. The views of the coast and surrounds can be seen without you having to encounter any gradients..
