It is easily reached from Tokyo with busses from Kofu railway station and popular with Japanese, but i haven't seen any westerner. The summit hikes are crowded but the beautiful ridges much less so. I took a trip to Japan on early August 2015. The place has its own beauty and the trail to summit take me almost 8 hours.
