Great church, much simpler in its design and space than many. High airy vaulted ceilings in calming grey stone, beautifully built. For 1€ you can visit the crypt. Lovely ceiling paintings done in deep colours, one in particular well - preserved. Watch your head descending...More

This is a very atmospheric church. The steward at the church collects a 1 EUR admission per person and then shows you how to get down to the crypt to see their 13th century carving and 15th century murals (unfortunately no photos allowed). In winter...More

Have seen many medieval churches but what is distinctive here is the crypt. A modest one euro entry fee gives access to a narrow circular stone stairway winding down into the crypt, where the painted walls of centuries ago dazzle with their brilliant colours. Just...More

It was a coincidence that we visited this church. We were standing outside when this lovely old man came and opened the door, so we could have a look inside. Had to pay 1 euro and he showed us around in this ancient church. At...More

Beautiful church in a wonderful little village. Superb views and inside the church there are some exquisite paintings. Well worth the 1€ entrance fee.

There is not a lot to do in Sos del Rey, and this was a pleasant offering. It is worth the extra arduous trip into the crypt, with its frescoes, even if they are not in great shape. We were unable to divine the episodes...More

Staying at local parador and went to visit this old old church. The door/facade is wonderful as is the church. The price to get in is 1 euro - we just gave the guy 5 as the place was breathtaking, - the crypt ( spiral...More

Very historical church. You cannot take pictures or video inside but still worth the one euro fee to enter. Make sure you visit the lower level which has a beautiful chapel. The stairs down are very narrow and dark.

This is a very old Gothic church. In particular, there is a very fine crypt decorated with medieval frescos and a magnificent though rather weathered Romanesque door. A splendid long passageway connects the entrance to the town. The entrance money seemed to go into the...More

The church, outside and in, is glorious and worth taking your time to see. Personally, I'd give it a couple of hours to absorb the age and texture of the place. The crypt is accessed down a small, spiral staircase which some people may have...More
