My visit was on a Sunday afternoon, so naturally, there were locals sitting on the steps and creating a somewhat crowded atmosphere. It was also not the rainy season so the falls weren't dropping very strong. It is still a beautifully natural rock formation and waterfall - worth appreciating.

Unfortunately as the municipality has barracked the road, elderly people or people with disabilities cannot drive in and have to park up the road. This is not the safest spot to leave your car or elderly people. The craft market (or should I say the few that have stayed) have wonderful things at reasonable prices. However, litter is around and very little maintenance. The falls is beautiful but dirty is an understatement. The old cafe is closed and no longer being used. This is such a shame as this used to be a great attraction for tourists and visitors and unfortunately businesses are suffering due to lack of infrastructure, security and maintenance. To embarrassing to include photos.

Although it was nice to view the waterfall from the viewing point you could not walk down the path to the bottom, area was shockingly over grown.
Wonga guys where all over the place was awful.
Museum was closed.....long drive for see what I could see on goggle.

Was wonderful to see the falls again. Well maintained and lovely to see some stalls. A pity the local Hotel is closing down. Just off the main road

Obviously seeing a waterfall at such scale is always amazing. The stalls nearby are always a must to walk past and have a look, the owners are all very friendly. Preferably go on a Sunny day.
Ps: Don't call any number for 'a trip to the bottom' it's setting you up for an unpleasant experience.

It truly is a great waterfall. The viewpoint is great and there are plenty of opportunities for family photos. The place is fairly well maintained. Lots of interesting flea market stalls to buy souvenirs from.

Mesmerizing and great gushing waterfall. Being so close to the top of the falls offers a stunning view 1st time I witnessed it so full obviously after all the recent rains even the river was flowing very rapidly. The area is fairly quite and not much else happening. The parking area was closed off so had to park on the off street parking and do a short walk to catch the glimpse of the falls. Few vendors selling souvenirs. But one should excersie caution as I think it can be a bit risky to venture on your own.

We visited Howick Falls Today. It was such a disappointment. Litter everywhere. The trial that u can take to the bottom of the falls was not well taken care off. There was no information centre. No guards anywhere. It looked neglected and unkempt. I visited about 20 years ago and it has just gone so so bad and so quiet. For South Africa if its quiet its not safe unfortunately

Good place to visit while in Howick. Nice to walk to to stretch your legs and see the falls, the beauty of the place and do some light shopping from the stalls in the area.

What a stunning place. I would have thought the the tourism board would have kept this place looking appetising to visit.
Hopefully the municipality of Howick will realise what a lovely tourist attraction they have

Late morning is always better. We never saw or read about any prostitutes at the site when we visited Howick.

Hi, is the entry to Howick Falls free? What are the activity details and their prices? e.g. absailing? Hiking?
Thank you

No entry fee. It’s basically a view site with an hour or so walk to bottom of Falls. It’s a child-friendly walk but for security/safety I suggest you walk in a group of at least 4 people.
There are lots of craft stalls and shops in the area.
