The wooden altar by Tilman Riemenschneider is beautiful. I personally like his altar in St. Jacob's in Rothenburg better, but this one is also well worth the time to see.

We parked the car on the parking area, next to the graveyard. It looks an old church. The church was closed so we continued our trip to Rothenburg.

If you are traveling the Romantic Road through Creglingen, this is a must see stop. It is about 2KM from town with sign posts throughout the area pointing the way. The wooden alter is hard to describe and has a wow factor that pictures don't...More

We made a special trip to see the church. It was more beautiful than described. Such a unique exhibit. Definitely make a trip here. Even though they advertise no photos, you are allowed, just no flash or tripods. Highly recommended.

You would only stop at this rather tattered looking out of the way church to see Tilman Reimenschnieder's masterpiece wooden sculpture of Assumption of Mary if you're interested in sculptures. It's phenomenal. Not to be missed if you are passing through this town or if...More

The unassuming-appearing church is the home of one of Riemanschneider's masterpieces: The Mariahimmelfahrt Altar (Ascension of Mary). The figures are carved on a large scale, and the overall impression is overwhelming. This is a "cannot miss" attraction , if in the area.
