We took the train from Palermo and walked the small distance to the Villa. As soon as we got there, it was obvious that it was under restoration. This was confirmed by a lady at the gate. Unfortunately my Italian isn't good enough to ask her for a re-opening date, so I suggest intending visitors check before going. As you... More

I have always been a fan of Guttuso so I dragged my partner to this museum one very hot day in August. 5. euro entry feeThe train from Palermo takes about ten minutes and then its some ten minutes more from the station to the museum. Exhibit is very well designed, some surprising artists -apart from Guttuso- and marvelous old... More

Not much remains of the baroque character of this palazzo on the edge of Bagheria. Instead, the ample space has been given over to the work of local 20th century artists - especially Renato Guttuso. Another regional museum that is filled with surprises, housing the works of Guttuso, his personal collection of art and a few other surprises. The modern and traditional paintings are a varied, but impressive collection. Guttuso's photographs are revealing, and an exhibit dedicated to cart making was delightful. An impressive collection of movie posters is also fun and memory invoking.

Fom the Marx Brothers to Federico Fellini . Posters associated with early modern films are featured prominently, with a large selection of movie-posters that range from 1927 through 1984. The exhibit was developed in large part due to the generosity of the Lo Medico brothers, descendants of a Bagheria family of cinema managers.
