The great thing about Playa Blanca is that there is shade here, unlike Jaco!
The water is calm you walk to Playa Mantas and we even say Red Macaws, Spider monkeys and white faced capuchin monkeys!

We took an Uber for $10 here.. we had to wait a bit for one to get back but we were in no rush.

This year i decided to actually stay in Punta Leona. Playa Blanca is still unaccessible unless you are staying at one of the lodgings past Vistalamar apartments. So somebody paid a lot of money to Costa Rican government to make that happen since beaches are supposed to be for the public in Costa Rica. You can go to Playa Mantas which is just as lovely and walk to Playa Blanca on low tide around the punta that juts out (see picture) but i don't advise it. DO NOT come on a weekend. It's incredibly noisy and very very crowded. Best time is Wednesday. Playa Mantas is lovely but be prepared to pay $$$$ for private gated parking or the dirt parking lot next door is cheaper but small and fills up fast.

Playa Blanca is an open version of a beach around the corner - Playa Mantas. Parking could be a hassle, not good for small kids.

Don’t come unless you are willing to pay for private parking. Oh and how convinient only the members of Puntaleona can go to the nearest parking lot and the “others” have to pay more. There shouldn’t be private or semi-private beaches.

Quite a ride from the highway. Paid parking is the only option. Too many boomboxes blasting on weekends.

This is one of the better beach parts in Costa Rica. We checked almost all of the beaches, Pacific and Caribbean site and Costa Rica is not well known for his beaches. Nothing special.

Unfortunately we drove all the way to this beach and were not able to even get close to it, because there was a roadblock with Police making everyone turn around because there was no parking and it was too crowded with too many people. So I have heard it’s beautiful, however, be prepared to come at dawn or else you will be turned away because there are too many people already there.

You can read all about the great beach but if you lose all your valuables the trip ends in sadness. Simply don’t bring them with to begin with. Thieves break the windows here. They clean you out at beach parking lots. Best to bring all to beach but don’t bring much cash or anything much at all.

Almost wild untouched beach on the border of Pacific ocean with white natural sand and very friendly warm ocean!

Our last day in Jaco we decided to try this beach. We had read about the tips on how to get there and what to do and most of it was accurate. The drive off the main road down to the area is mostly dirt but was easy to travel. You need to park in the designated public parking lot but it’s cheap and right beside the beach. Once you get to Playa Mantas you walk down and over the rocks and there it is. The sand is definitely much better than most of the others in the area and it has amazing surf. Not the best for snorkeling but a great spot to relax with less people around.
