Catarata del Toro is a wonderful waterfall to visit. The facilities are top-notch. It's a world-class place to watch and photograph hummingbirds including the violet sabrewing which lives here in abundance. After entry, you are almost immediately hit with the expansive view of catarata del...More

We did a quick stop to view this beautiful, massive waterfall on the way to the Arenal area. The volcano nearby had erupted that morning and the water was grey due to the volcanic ash. Very cool to see, but would have liked to have...More

It is a very nice waterfall and a well maintained path down to the viewing point, but 14$ is ridiculous! I think last year it was 10$, according to previous posts, and in my opinion a 40% raise can be hardly justified, except with greed!...More

Highly recommend coming to this small town to see the waterfalls or cataratas. The hike is moderate, about 5 kilometers (2.5 miles), and offers beautiful sites along the way. Certain times of year the water is very blue like the glacier lakes in Canada. I...More

Hosts were super accommodating. They made us dinner when we got in a little later, were extremely helpful and friendly, and you can't beat the view of the waterfall! The hike down is pretty easy and the food was wonderful-- try the homemade hot sauce....More

When we went, it was raining, so the lodge looked close and there was no one else there. We paid the entrance fee and hiked down, which was quick (25 mins) and easy if you are in shape (tough if you don't exercise). The falls...More

Out of the way waterfall in volcanic crater with grounds of birds and flowers (saw toucans, hummingbirds etc.) Impressive waterfall and hike to bottom. Romantic restaurant. Rooms are sparse, but OK. Best of Costa Rica attraction.

The southerly approach to Bajos del Toros is challenging to say the least. Although the roads were paved, they were the narrowest, steepest, most tortuous we saw in Costa Rica. There was one point after a hairpin turn that the hill was so steep I...More

My wife and I consider ourselves waterfall chasers. And Del Toro is one of the most impressive we've ever seen! The hike is not as bad as you imagine it will be. Just take a break once in awhile and your back at the top...More
