I had a Jaw dropping experience lately on recent trip to Kasauni . Besides being in
Picturesque location of Mighty Himalayas i was Introduced to the Planetary Bodies
of our solar system and Astronomy by Mr Khulbe who showed us planets through our various telescopes he has arranged . I definitely was Enlighted by his knowledge and would recommend this experience to anyone.
Nothing better to ask for with a sip of coffee :)

Must visit place for people visiting Kausani. The personalized service provided by Mr. Khulbe is the brightest star among the many stars he shows and explains passionately.
The late night Star gazing is an absolute delight for both adults and kids of all age.

It was never expected experience in the small town Kausani. The host Mr Kiran is very experienced and has a good knowledge about the celestial objects. Since past 20 years he is doing the job to make people aware of this. Basically Kausani is high altitude place and the sky is very clear so it is very suitable for observation of the sky. Along with the celestial bodies Mr Kiran asked is to visit in the morning to show the Himalayan Mountains. Trishul, Nanda Devi and many other mountains were the attraction for the morning.
As Mr Kiran is settled in this area he has good contacts with all the hotel owners. He can arrange for your accommodation and can suggest you good itinerary. You can contact him on 9818522784/ 05962-258026. He is very nice person he will definitely guide you for the best.
We had wonderful time with him and it was the peak of our stay in Kausani.

An unexpected but amazing surprise on an almost unplanned visit to Kausani--Mr Kiran is a delight to interact with.
His passion for astronomy and his very interesting manner of introducing the celestial bodies to the 'common man' is so engrossing and fascinating you wouldn't want to miss it for anything. Even if that means waking up early in the morning to see the beautiful Venus at dawn.
Enjoy your cup of coffee while you gaze at the stars or munch on snacks as you stare in awe at the gorgeous Himalayan peaks from the deck of the planetarium.
Do step in to enjoy the hospitality and anecdotes that Mr Kiran shares with his visitors.
Happy stargazing!

Not exactly a planetarium as such, but the small place has a cute feel to it, and a single telescope during the day helps you locate the distant peaks, and in the evening helps you gaze at the stars. Worth a quick visit.

There are 2 planet shows run by the private parties. One is in the main road just below the road which leads to Anashkti Ashram. The owner , Mr.Kiran runs the restaurant ad also the telescope show, a self taught person. Night we can view the the obvious moon, venus and also the various constellations. The sky is clear and dark. Also in the morning you can view the Saturn and Mars. Cost is Rs.50/head and you can enjoy the hot milk or coffee. In morning the sun rise view here is not advisable as you can't see the sun rise, hence do not waste you time although you would be enticed to see the sun rise. Stick to the timings as every 4 mins the postion keeps changing.

The Kausani Planetarium opens to visitors early morning at 5 and evening at 7.30 and 8.30 (two shows) during summer. We ventured out from our Hotel, Suman Royal Resort, on the evening of April 24 to the Planetarium, but were greeted by a hailstorm on the way. The evening show was cancelled. Hence, we decided to brave the early morning chilly weather on April 25, literally shivering, for a unique experience in planet sighting via the telescope. The viewing started early at 4.45 am. And what a clear view – so close – craters in the moon, Saturn with its rings, Jupiter, Venus. Mr. Kiran Khulbe, the amateur astronomer, who runs the Planetarium, explained in detail with so much passion. We could also see the Himalayas through powerful binoculars, and also see the snow clad mountains. All-in-all, a very fulfilling experience.

I had read a lot about Kausani Planetarium on Trip Advisor but it was never on my list of things to do in Kausani. My visit to this wonderful place happened somewhat by chance as I was visiting the Star Gate observatory located opposite to the Kausani Planetarium. The name ‘Planetarium’ May give a sense to visitors that it is like a Planetarium in the main cities but actually this is a place where guests can actually see the planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Venus), Moon, the Sunrise, and the Nanda Devi range of mountains (If the visibility is good) through telescopes. There is also a small eatery and a shop selling some essential items. The place is run by Mr. Kiran Khulbe, who is a amateur astronomer. He is very passionate about the subject and takes personal and keen interest in the shows and charges just Rs. 50 per person. He also gave a lot of valuable information about the planets, the Moon which were not known earlier to me. The best time to visit is the early morning show which started around 4:30 am. Visitors should check with Mr. Kiran on the previous day about the timings. The Planetarium is closed in the monsoon months. The best time in the year to get a clear view of the mountain range is from October to Feb / March.
