The entrance fee of EUR 12.90 is definitely too much for what is on offer. I expected more. Lots of photos and film posters, a few Arnie dolls, Mama Aurelia's 1950s kitchen...that's it; I'll definitely not be back, it's a scam.

Extremely underwhelming for this much money. They were really scraping the bottom of the barrel with the objects from Arnold’s adult life and movie career. This is a photo museum with some relics, without too much explanation. The audio guide was not available when we visited, maybe that could’ve provided some more info.

OMG - our dream came true. After watching Arnold's cinematography from our childhood to reading Total Recall... this was a bucket list must have. Great photos, variously arranged topics according to his life. It's worth it and even with the birthday coming up. Happy Birthday Arnie <3

This is the place to be for Arnold Schwarzenegger fans! The museum is Arnold's old home, some rooms are full of memorabilia (movies, bodybuilding, personal life) while others are decorated the way they were when Arnold lived there. In summertime there are guided tours on weekends, for the rest of the year it's quiet - we had the whole place for ourselves although it was Saturday. Take also a little walk around the neighbourhood (there are some ruins nearby) and in the surroundings of Thalersee. There are a couple of restaurants close to the bus stop and the lake.
Some tips about getting to the museum by bus from Graz railway station (more simple than the museum website says): when getting off the train, follow the signs to Waagner-Biro-Straße (if you are in a hurry catching the bus like we were, this is better than going to the front of the station - it takes only a few minutes). When you exit the station following these signs, you'll end up next to the bus stop of line 85. 85 will take you to Gösting (last stop), and if you are lucky to arrive when the timetables match, the bus to Thal (48) is waiting there. Otherwise you'll have to wait some time, but it will leave from the same place where 85 dropped you off. In Thal the "Arnold stop" is Thalersee which is the turning point of this line so it's easy to notice. From there it's a short walk along the shore of Thalersee to the museum.

It was amazing well worth the trip!!! We stayed in veinna and few people said its too far away but if u give yourself plenty of time you'll do it... it's a must! The lady working there knew so much about him and answered all our questions. You can stay in there as long as you like... there also free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and water
Here is how we got here
We got the train to graz which was 2 hours... but the views on the train is amazing! When we got to graz jump on the 85 bus ( not the 40) the bus stop straight outside the station... stay on the bus till u get to ghosting... it's the last stop only takes 10mins... then get on the 48 Which is the same stop where you get off for the 85 again takes 15 mins.. get off thalersee again last stop.. if your not sure the driver will help... when off the bus walk up the road and you'll see the arnie sign! And boooom it's there.
It's a must!!!

Great place to visit for an arnie fan! It was our reason for visiting the City of Graz...the 4km walk was beautiful! The Museum was totally worth the journey! The woman who works there was amazing too, so polite and enthusiastic...she even treated us to a free beer each after we bought some souvenirs! Highly recommended

I'm a big fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger and therefore, this museum was like heaven for me. It is practically a big mansion with each room having a different theme. It tackles the different aspects of Arnie's life. It depicts Arnie's bodybuilding, acting, political and personal life. There are life-sized models and we were allowed to take pictures. There is also a Harley which was used in the shooting of one of the Terminators. We really enjoyed ourselves here and I recommend it to all Arnie fans!

We stayed in Graz and it was easy to get the bus from Graz train station to Thal. You need to take 2 buses but it only takes 20 mins. The museum is just up the road from the bus top. First right theres a sign.
The museum itself is 5 rooms with items from different times in his life and there are loads of cool items such as the sword from conan and the bike from terminator.
Overall definately worth a visit

On a getaway from Vienna, my wife and I decided to stay at Romantic chalets. Being from LA and watching Arnie live out his dreams there. We decided to visit his museum and see where he grew up.
At the museum you get to learn lots about his history, see some pictures of his upbringing and service in the Austrian military and of course, learn about his life as an actor, see how proud he was to become an American, learn about his political career and finally, learn about his drivers in life and what his rules to live by are.
Both my wife and I really enjoyed our visit there and we fully recommend it.

Visited here recently as Arnie has been my hero all my life. Its nice to see where he grew up and the museum is fairly priced. Although I was hoping for more. I would of liked to see more movie memorabilia but other than that it was great to do in a lovely part of the world. The gift shop could be better. I struggled to find anything I really wanted but I ended up with a t-shirt. All in all its another thing ticked off the bucket list ✔️

Are tickets required in advance to access the museum? Or is it pay on arrival?

Hi All, I just wanted to confirm that I can get to Graz from Vienna central by train? Then car/cab to museum from Graz station?
Written 14 November 2017
Hi,
Yes there are regular trains from Vienna-Graz. From Graz it is very easy to take a taxi to the Arnie museum in Thal. There will be taxis outside Graz station.
I was stopping in a hotel in central Graz, and if I remember right, the taxi took around 25 minutes to reach the museum, and cost around 20-25 euros.
Thal is a bit 'in the middle of nowhere' so I would recommend you ask your taxi driver to return at a set time and pick you up. I spent about an hour in the museum (I would call myself a big fan). Within a few minutes walk is a lakeside pub which serves food, and also St Jakob's church which is worth seeing for its most bizarre architecture which I just can't explain adequately.
If you have time, on your return journey I recommend stopping at Schloss Eggenberg, from where you can easily take an efficient tram service back to the station.

I have clients looking to visit musuem how far from vienna and is it easy to access by public transport ?
Written 26 October 2015
HI - it is a 2.5 hour drive from Vienna - alternatively 2.5 hours train from Vienna to Graz and then 15mins by car. It is located outside Graz, in Thal. A good idea would be to combine it with a visit to Schloss Eggenberg which is a 5 min drive nearby.

We are in Vienna for 4 days and want to make the trip to the museum as my wife is obsessed with Arnie (not in a sex way...At least I hope not as she married me and I look more like Jean Claude Van Damme....I digress.)
I wonder what is the best way to get there from Vienna and is there much else to do near by or any recommendations.
What time should we set off from Vienna to make the most of it cause unlike Arnie...We won't be back.

Hi There,
The location is about 20 mins away from Graz centre by car - it is a very quiet village with no traffic and beautiful country roads. The address is Linakstraße 9, 8051 Thal, Austria. Visit the website arnieslife for more info, but if you have GPS you can easily get there. We went in the morning during the week and there were maybe 10 visitors at the same time. 1 hour should be enough. I suggest you visit the magnificent Schlosss Eggenberg castle which is just 5 mins away.
Good Luck.

We are going to Salzburg on the 25 th may 2015 as my son is a massive fan of Annie Schwarzenegger we will be going to his museum what is the best day and is it closed any days
Written 7 March 2015
Hi there! For planning purposes, Salzburg is about 2 hours and 45 minutes from Graz, the largest city near the Arnold Schwarzenegger Museum. The Museum is open Monday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., last entrance 4:30 p.m. I believe any day of the week would be a good time to go. When I went, it was not super busy.
Don't forget to head into Graz and go to Arnold's first/original gym, where it all began! The owner's name is Kurt Marnul, a friend and mentor to Arnold, who was also a former Mr. Austria. The attendants at the Museum will give you directions. Enjoy!
