Partition of India in 1947 had cruel stories on the bordering areas. There is a famous Kamleshwari Kali Temple at the present border town of Kasaba in Tripura. As is the custom temples have adjacent lakes where devotees take bath before entering temple. Here also this beautiful lake is next to the temple. At the time of partition the line was drawn between India and Pakistan and while temple remained in India, the lake went to Pakistan which later became Bangladesh.
It required diplomatic talks and the lake was given to India in exchange of land elsewhere and the temple and the lake could be reunited. Now International border of Bangladesh runs around the lake.
While seeing the temple and the lake, one can see the artificial division of an area in two countries based on religion. Border establishment and BSF presence can be seen by those not familiar with International Border Policing. Nearby lake is Border Haat where villagers from India and Bangladesh trade their articles.
This Temple and the Lake is about 30 kilometres from Agartala and about an hour's drive from there.

This place has historic as well as religious importance. The Kali temple is visited by many devoties and they take a bath at this lake before performing puja at the Kali temple.
It is through a truce between Bharat and Bangladesh that this lake was annexed to Bharat and in replacement land was allocated to Bangladesh elseware. The Bangladesh border is bang at the edge of this lake and one can observe trains moving inside Bangladesh from the tarrace of the guesthouse. One can observe the Indian watch tower on the edge of the hillock.

The temple is situated at 30 Kms from Agartala adjacent to Bangladesh Border. The Place is well kept and clean. Very serene place and a popular picnic spot of the locals. One can se the Bangladesh Railway on and of. A Govt guest house is there with rooms to stay and a restaurant to dine at. Recommend not to stay and eat at the other restaurants.

Some picnic was going on and the place was terribly polluted with food paper plates and all that. Loud music tearing the sound from huge speakers. Sunset was happening so that was good to catch and couldn't do boating as there was no time so that kind of sucked but I guess it was okay, the sunset made it.
