Amazing tour guide and the VR headset experience was surprising but fun and informative! Tour around the vineyard, production and cellars, followed by wine tasting. Book in advance!

We had a wonderful stay at Quinta do Vallado. The grounds are beautiful and with only 19 rooms it felt very intimate. At check in you're welcomed with a glass of their white port while your bags are taken to your room. We stayed in the modern building, which is where the breakfast/dinning area and reception are. There's also the library with honor bar where you can pour yourself a glass of one of their wines or ports and unwind in the evening. A Nespresso machine and cookies are available if you want to enjoy a coffee while viewing the courtyard.

The standard room in the modern building was nicely appointed with a private patio. As a welcome gift there was a bottle of their white port along with recipes and ingredients for two port cocktails. For staying two nights we also received a bottle of their olive oil, complimentary tasting, a bottle of their red reserve and one hour use of the spa space. The spa area is near the gym and pool on the edge of the orange grove. There's a hot tub, sauna and steam room.

The breakfast is included in the base rate with plenty of fresh fruit, selection of local cheeses/charcuterie, variety of breads/pastries, cereals, egg dishes and coffee drinks. Dinner is also available exclusively to overnight guest which is a three course meal with choice of main for €55/person with premium wines or €90/person with top-of-the-line wines. The menu rotates daily and the wine is constantly flowing throughout the dinner service.

To wrap things up, the wine tasting was the cherry on the cake. Before the tasting you take a nice tour of the production facility that ends in their private tasting room. Our guide was fantastic and really made you feel welcome. Would definitely stay at Quinta do Vallado again or even check out their sister property in the Duoro Superior.

This was a beauitful place to visit.
We ate dinner at the restaurant where our wine glasses were never empty.
The room was spa-like and everything we needed was there.
My only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

Expensive Tasting (compared to other wineries) with a very standard tour that didn’t make it worth.
Guide was nice, but it was very commercial.

Apart from the fact that staff seems unapproachable and smug at times (we were made feel we were trespassing when we got there and for some reason asked to check-in at the store (?), not at the hotel reception), this is still an amazing and beautiful hotel, and most staff are super nice and helpful.
We stayed in a bungalow in the Eira house (new and beautiful - bedroom and toilet on the ground floor and lounge area/ office on the first floor), which was challenging - if you forget something in the bedroom, you’ll have to climb your way to the top to get it. With small kids, that might be extra challenging. There are parking spaces very close to it and the pool is just bellow.
Dinner was very nice - I went with the Premium wines, and the ‘vinhas velhas’ was particularly wonderful!
They are having a big wasp issue and thats why you’ll find a lot of dishes with HAM (they are carnivores) scattered around the dinner/breakfast area. I’m not sure if that won’t prove to the counterproductive in time. They will call them bees, but really they’re wasps (bees are different and will go for the flowers instead!).

Wonderful wine tour! Amazing history and thorough details on production and history of the Douro Valley. Our guide António Montezinho was fabulous 10/10. Gave us some awesome local restaurant recommendations and was hilarious - definitely made the tour for us!

Everything excellent! The Quinta is very beautiful, the winery visit is one of the best we had, room nicely decorated and cosy. One of the best parts was the dinner: everything simply delicious, all courses paired with perfect wine and for a fair price. The breakfast was also impeccable: lots of options in the buffet and a la cart, all included. The staff is careful and specially kind. It was the best place to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

Excellent Quinta, dinner with wine pairing was super, breakfast was also very good with lots of offerings. Sorry to only be there one night. We stayed in the old house which was very nice but dark as old houses are so if you like bright rooms go for the modern wing
Winery tour with Albert was very informative and enjoyable

Absolutely recommend this tour. We started at 4;30 pm in the English tour group. The day was hot for May but bearable. Can’t imagine the heat would be like in the summer months. The pace was good and Emmanuel was an excellent tour guide.
