One of the best beaches in Chania prefecture, quite untouched and unexplored. Many travelers use the area around the beach as a free camping spot. It is actually a cedar forest next to the beach. It is also a favorite beach for naturists. The road up to Elafonisi is quite good and then you need to take a non asphalt road for about 10 minutes. Then you also need to take a walk path for another 15-20 minutes. No matter the time you will need to go there, it's sure that you will enjoy that unique beach.

It is located near Elafonissi, but difficult to reach if you do not know it. But the drive really Worth. There is nearly anybody, and the sand dunes in combinations with the vegetation and the beach makes it really great. Much better then Eleafonissi itself. You will not find restaurants or bar, but if you like nature it is the... More

Ending up at this beach instead of the and popular beach in the area called Elafonissi was the best thing that could habe happened to us. Some days ago we got already shocked by the overcrovded and disappointing Balos beach (a similarly popular beach in the north) so it was a real gift to compensate us, perfect white sand, shade... If you want beach loungers and umbrellas, beach tavernas and bars - don't come here, PLEASE. Thankfully it is either a long walk - or a rough, dusty track and a downhill walk, so 99% of people head for Elafonissi!

A bit tricky to find but totally worth it.Before reaching elafonisos there is a left turn and a gravel road between green houses lead to a parking area where you leave your vehicle. There is a clear path going downhill. In a fifteen minute walk you reach the cedar forest which is great. Its a totally unspoiled place with some free campers.Waters are... We have visited this as one of our favourite spots regularly over the years, but on our recent visit were staggered how its changed over the last 18 months. The warning signs started as we drove in a slow snake of cars along the road that used to be virtually traffic free. Usually we have shared the beach with about... More

Definitely one of my favourite beaches in Crete! Like everywhere in Crete, it's best to visit off season if you can. We were here in early September, and met just a handful of people. Bring snacks and water - and make sure to take all your rubbish with you.

Clear water. Colourful fish. Not crowded (yet). Close to elafonissi. Requires a long walk to the beach. A nude stretch is at the far left corner.

Please leave it wild and true as it is now. I can define it as an “organic” beach, far from cities and totally without facilities. Not easy to be reached (no road signs, hard off-road and walking) or walking from Elafonisi, so it’s not totally suggested if you have little children. Please continue to respect this beautiful place. Some people... More
