The museum is well worth a visit and is devoted to the Treaty of Tordesillas which was the agreement between Spain and Portugal on how the divided up the New World. Perfect for those students of Spanish history and the Conquistadores

This is a municipal museum celebrating an important treaty that was signed here -- it divided the New World into Spanish and Portuguese parts.. this is why Brazilians speak Portuguese, and the rest of South America speaks Spanish. There´s an AudioGuide tour in English, tons...More

One of the most important treaties of the Mediaevil period was signed here. The free display is detailed and fascinating. We spent more than an hour here - not everyone's cup of tea!

Unfortunately audioguide only in spanish and visual explanations only spanish portuguese and english. The treaty through which spaniards and portuguese devided the world to be discovered and taken possession of in 1494 is nicely illustrated.

I learnt a few things here which I should have remembered from school. Interesting little museum as stated by other writers. Town worth a visit, maybe a overnight stay as its a nice area. Prices in town seemed OK as its a bit tourist.
