This amazing floating market is a delight with fresh prawns cooked and served from a boat and a river trip to see the fireflies. Definitely worth a trip from Bangkok for a long weekend.

Went during the day after Songkran near the evening. Wasn't very crowded and the view i must say is AMAZING. Lots of seafood e.g. huge king prawns grilled fresh and tomyum soup was the best! (can't remember which stall i ate). You can also catch...More

People visiting Bangkok for the first time will often head to the tourist trap 'Damnoen Saduak' Floating Market which is the most famous floating market. But sadly these days Damnoen Saduak has lost all it's authenticity and charm, being swamped with souvenir boats, t-shirt stalls...More

Getting to Amphawa is the biggest pain. We took a combo of BTS, bus, and mini-bus to get here, which took a good 4 hours from Bangkok's city center. Maybe we should have taken a cab which wouldve been 30,000 baht ($100 dollars) that probably...More

Meat, fish, seafood, vegetables, fruit, cakes, sweets. Grilled, simmered, baked, fried, marinaded, chopped, stirred. At little stalls in the market hall, by the side of the canal, on the long tail boats floating on the canal. Chai yen, cafe yen, fruit shakes, smoothies, Singha beer,...More

I haven't been back to Ampawha for a few years and this time we stayed in a homestay by the canals. Great week end. The floating market is fun and you can go at a slow pace, enjoy the shops and the food. I love...More

This market was very cool. Lots of amazing food for cheap, nice restaurants by the river, and great souveniers. You can ride a longboat up the river! Out of all of the markets we went to near Bangkok this was my favorite one. The vendors...More

Quite an experience. Great seafood at an outstanding price. Fruits, candies and souvenirs are also cheaper than Bangkok. Comfortably walking the length (both sides) of the market plus the outskirt stalls in a few hours, but plan to set aside the entire day if making...More
