The trail to Cristo Rey is a little bit obscure, but locals will guide you if you ask. My very fractured Spanish got us on the path, which is only mildly strenuous. Creel is at about 6500 feet altitude, and the hike is uphill. But, quite manageable for a 65 and 70 yr old. The views are not like the Copper River Canyon, but you can see the whole of the valley in which Creel sits. Well worth the effort.

Climbing to the top of Cristo Rey isn't too difficult if you take your time. You are able to see the entire town including the Chepe train. Good spot for photos and just enjoying the view.

A must for the bird's eye view of the city of Creel. From here we realized there was more to Creel than just the main street.

I hiked up to Cristo Rey during a visit to Creel since I had some free time. It takes about 20 minutes to hike up so you can kill an hour total. It’s a good thing yo do if you have some free time to kill and want to take some scenic pictures of Creel.

We heard in town about the great views you can get in the top of this hill and the view once you get there is amazing, the only problem is that there is no clear signs or roads that take you there, the locals go thru paths in the middle of the trees and not all of them take you to the top, some trails are tougher to climb than others, I would not recommend this for persons with disabilities, lung problems, heart problems or elderly persons.
The reward is very good when you make it to the top.

Think Christ the Redeemer but a shabby and very small one, without the view or the crowds and you got it.
It's a walk to do if you have a spare moment in Creel. There are a few loose dogs running about that can be intimidating but luckily for us a nice dog from down town followed us up and kept the other dogs away!
Anyway to get there you cross the train tracks, walk up J Manuel Martinez and at a cross roads near the pylon turn right, you'll come to an arch of bricks on the left, walk up and you'll get to Christo Rey. Good views from the top, worth checking out.

Just a statue of christ on top of a mountain. The landscape from the top is beautiful, the trail to get there is steep a few times and the signals are hard to follow, It's easy get lost a bit sometimes. Not bad for morning trekking but nothing espectacular.

Look for the red antennas and make your way up the hill from there. The view is worth the climb even if the city is not spectacular when compared to the canyon views you experience in this area.

It's a nice walk up if you can brave the dogs in town at the bottom of the trail... Not a difficult hike nor a wilderness hike but good for an afternoon or early morning jaunt. A great view of the valley and surroundings if you want to get yourself oriented.

For senior citizens who cannot climb, can you see Mount Christopher Rey by car, in other words without climbing trails?
