we very much enjoyed our visit here. The castle and grounds are extremely well maintained. The gardens are lovely. The historical displays of A. Dumas' life and achievements are extremely informative. A great way to spend a few hours away from Paris. Can be combined with a visit to Marly-le-Roi.

Dumas is simply my favourite author and I highly recommend visiting his residence to any fan. Unfortunately it was the winter months and the gardens werent in bloom, but to see where some of your favourite books were penned is a once in a lifetime experience

This place is located close to my grandparents home, so on a recent visit we went to check it out. I don't think I'd ever have visited if it wasn't so close, but it was really worth it to hear and read about Alexandre Dumas. I was sad to hear the society that keeps it open wasn't able to stop... We were visiting my son and family who live outside Paris. On a whim, we visited the Chateau de Monte Cristo which was not very far. I am not sure I would have considered making the trek if I was staying in Paris, but I am glad we had the opportunity to spend an hour or so at the Chateau.... More

Would be great on a sunny weather day. The chateau is small but very cozy and lively. Worth a visit. And it's close to Paris city-center

Although most (but not all) of the information is in French, I still learned a LOT about Dumas and the times. The chateau is charming because it is not enormous but beautifully proportioned. Outside is his writing studio with names of his books etched into the stone - you can only look in but you get a sense of it.... More

Excellent live animated tour with characters running around the tiny house. The house inside is not extraordinary apart from the Arabic room. The grounds are really nice and fun for kids. You do get to learn a lot about Dumas' life history.

We were with foreign friends and decide to visit the Castle of Monte-Cristo. This place is well furnished and we learnt a lot about the life of Alexandre Dumas and his books. A beautiful garden is also good to see. I do recommend to visit it. Not as well known as the St Germain en Laye Castle but but really... More

Great visit - easy to find, parking is close and the house was FULL of interesting information about his life. The later meant we should have planned a longer stay.
