Wasn't expecting to find a castle on our afternoon outing and nearly didn't go in but so glad we did. The castillo is an impressive example of how reconstructions can be done tastefully and without kitsch. Rooms have been simply refurnished with attention to detail. The written information is mostly in Spanish. Views from the battlements to the mountains and... More

We happened to be passing, it looked interesting so we pulled over. So glad we did, Its in a beautiful setting and it really does look like it was recently built. Well worth a visit.

This is one of the best conserved medieval castles within region of Madrid. Only a short drive away from the capital, the castle has interesting surroundings, well maintained original walls and towers, inside part hosts an original furniture and other ornamental art, open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday. If you want to enjoy as if you were a... More

I visited this small castle many years ago but now there is more to see. Great views over the lake/embalse. I didn't think it was worth paying to visit the small gardens, they can be seen from above.

Very well maintained, nice views and interiors well worth seeing. I completely lost myself in the library, their collection is beautiful. The price is adequate to the visit but it may be a little to much to people on a budget. Nevertheless, there are times when you can visit for free (Jan 6th was when I did it).

Set on the hill at Manzaranes, on top of a lake. Its a very quiet towm with friendly people and a couple of quaint restaurants with good food, but alas no English menus or speakers !

Took a day's drive from Madrid. Unfortunately it was a rainy day so all we did was the castle and then decided to head back to the city (no fun sightseeing in the rain with 4 young children). The castle is very well preserved. Not much to read in English - but still worthwhile.

Well worth a short 45 minute drive from Madrid. The XV century castle is well restored and it has some nice exhibits, short movie as well as some wonderful tapestry and armors to take a look at. The day we travelled there was even some medieval fight reenactments in the surrounding area to the castle. If traveling with the little... More

Visited the castle on a very cold March day had brilliant sunshine in dispersed with light snow flurries ! So wrap up warm The castle is set elevated above the small town. And has small but nicely presented gardens surrounding it. I did not quiet understand the need for the medieval piped music you could here whilst walking around the... More

The village is a centre of walking and climbing, so can get busy in the summer. The castle is fully intact although parts have been restored. It is well worth a visit and parts are museum like with artefacts and reconstructions of centuries past. The land around the castle is quite small, but well organised into gardens and paths. Worth...
