In general this was a beautiful hike...lovely foliage, beautiful butterflies, birds, other wildlife, and a pretty waterfall. However, as others have written it was a steep hike with lots of up and down stairs. The heat and humidity only added to the effort. My son-in-law ended up having to carry our two year old grandson the entire hike which was... More

This was a good walk for an overcast day with the kids. 500¥ per adult and 300¥ per kid. Borrowed a bamboo walking stick for authenticity. Some steep parts but there's no hurry to finish. Plenty of bird watchers along the walk and the suspension bridge is not the swinging type.

the waterfalls hike was okay because of the well prepared trail. they made it very safe and can be done with small kids. the bridge was very sturdy and the path has anti slip or skid planks in most parts. the handrails are every where. the falls was disappointing because it is not tall nor majestic and there was cordon... I went there with my daughter (she lives there), we took the trail to the falls. There is alot of steps and bridges and walkways, and it says it is about a mile, but that would be on flatland! There are several stair cases, from 2 steps to 72 steps! I know because I counted them! We really enjoyed the... More

It's about 2KM hike to the waterfall. You can either follow the riverbank or the forest trail. The forest trail can be quite challenging for somes as it consists of long staircase and steep gradients. Not a big waterfall.

Why doesn't anyone tell us it closes at 3pm. We drove all the way here with a traffic that is worse than a funeral procession at 15km - traffic jam for no reason. The usual speed limit is 40km normally and if you are lucky 50km. You get nowhere at this rate. Driving the length from Naha to just Bise... More

I hiked this waterfall with my 6 yr old and my husband. There are a lot of stairs, so I would say you need to be able to walk a good bit. I will be living in Okinawa for a few years so I would say that it's a waterfall to visit at least once. It looks just like the... More

The hike to Hiji Waterfall is interesting. It basically follows a small river, and while the river remains at about the same level from start to finish, you still go up and down a bunch of stairs every few minutes. I'm overweight, so it was kinda hard. But most of that was due to the heat. I went when the... More

I took a bus from Nago to see the Hiji waterfall - grab a bamboo stick and go into the forest. I saw huge butterflies, lizards and salamanders on the way in!

Don't take your dogs. Even though there are NO signs or notices on any of their pamphlets or website- you will drive way out there and waste your time. Probably beautiful but we wouldn't know.
