I lived in this neighbourhood for 5 years. It is Amsterdam but geographically it is physically separated from the rest of Amsterdam. Like an exclave of Amsterdam. It is nice to cycle here, very green. More spacious, cheaper to live, and the culture very different to the rest of Amsterdam. Highly populated by Surinamese people of Dutch with Surinamese roots. This means great Surinamese food is never too far away! Overall, a nice and pleasant place.

Amstel river area around Amsterdam zuid-oost is one of the most beautiful sites. Especially along Ouderkerk aan de Amstel village is such a pretty site along Amstel river. Love the bars overlooking Amstel river for perfect evening relaxation.

Cycling along Amstel is something one should do. It is worth every moment of your ride.

Further down south is Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena boulevard where one could spend time and money :). Movies, clothing, electronics, sports wear/gear, house hold articles, baby stuff.. so all of it in one big boulevard.

Pretty close to the Arena is Ziggo Dome where one can attend one of the many events that happen round the year.

Easy access via Amsterdam Bijlmer station.

It is outside the city centre. The best way to explore it, is by bike as you can see different kind of plants and animals on the field.

It’s a really nice part of Amsterdam with nice greenery and gardens and full of amazing infrastructures and shops. You can ride on bicycle and we had an amazing weather when visiting. It’s also not so expensive as other parts of town and the people around are really nice.

south east Amsterdam is separated by the Amstel river area from the next urban zone:Amstelveen.
The Amsel river area in dutch "GROEN-GEBIED AMSTEL" offers a touch of countryside between these two Amsterdam suburbs.
Central in the are is the village Ouderkerk aan de Amstel 15min by bike west of Amstelveen
