Paradise - and certainly not lost. Picture Perfect and Reasonably priced.
A beautiful place that brings all elements of a Thailand holiday perfectly together: spectacular sunset, clear blue/green sea, white beaches and super-fresh seafood at very reasonable prices. The resorts will take care of anything else. It is not easy to get to, but that is probably more of a blessing then a curse, as it helps limit tourist influx. Even though it has been developed to cater to tourism, it still has a lot of Southern Thai characteristics. That includes stray dogs and a more casual approach to cleanliness, but it is certainly not above what you normally find in Thailand, except for the very high-end hotels and resorts. All in all a must-do if you want the best holiday pics money can buy.

It's a difficult island to get to, but it's worth it.
There may be few Thai people who have ever been there. There is a way to get there from the Malaysian side, but that is also a difficult path. After doing a lot of research, I decided to approach from Bangkok. The week we spent here was a wonderful place that was well worth the effort.

    An okay island overall
Koh Lipe has grown on me over the last several days, but it's my least favorite of stops in Thailand after Chiang Mai, Koh Lanta and Koh Tao. It was a tough 3+ hr high speed ferry that broke down in the middle of the sea and was an hour late to start. We arrived to see mostly dirt streets aside from walking street, which is nice, and significantly more trash around. The diving at Stonehenge was fantastic. Everything is more expensive here and generally not the same quality. Loved Elephant's lattes, homemade bread, and banana smoothies. A long way to come for an okay island overall.

    Stunning and crazy!
Highlight of my month tour around Thailand. You arrive on a manically busy beach… slightly alarming with Long tail boats coming and going (making the sound of revved up scooters!) but then you walk a little left or a little right and it’s a wonderful oasis. Beautifully clear turquoise water with crystal white sand … paradise. Loved the busy ‘walking’ street behind the beach offering everything! Snorkelling wasn’t brilliant but the surroundings more than made up for it! I will definitely return.

Beautiful beaches and snorkeling. Walking street easy to walk across islands and wide variety of foods offered. Fresh, flavorful foods! Several Thai massage places available. The most beautiful colors at sunset from sunset beach and at night off 10 moons beach.

Walking street- busy with people ,motor bikes , 3 wheelers...bars / restaurants, massage spas, 7-11...the usuals.
Stayed at one of the hotels along walking street.. lively ,for restless soul
Eats- i think it depends on the mood of the cook, but usual island fare
Beach on the main island- needs dedicated clean up crew daily... doesn't feel pristine,
Surrounding islands- Ko Hin ngam snorkelling site was good , UNESCO basalt rock pile up is worth checking out ,but there is a curse of bad luck on anyone who pilfer even a rock from that place ....coral bleaching yeah.
A lot of hard decisions and work to be done to bring back the rave reviews for Lipe... Otherwise, get stonedrunk and everything may be beautiful

I like Thailand very much. Malay in Thailand is very beautiful, the water is clear, you can swim and see the fish. The view took a lot of photos, very impressive.

Beautiful beach, lovely restaurants, bars and shops - a great buzz to the place! Pattaya beach is beautiful water, clear and calm. Only didn’t give it 5/5 because of sea urchins on sunrise beach - I put my knee down on one (seems to be a common occurrence yet no signage warn). But great medical care to get it seen to!

The sea is beautiful as are the coral and the fish - but that's where the beauty ends!
The Thais/islanders have done their best to trash what could be a beautiful destination. No planning of resorts, loads of junk/rubbish, all of the 'ugly' parts in full view. Such a shame...
Another issue is the long tail boats. Far too many of them, unregulated or controlled and very noisy,(no silencers fitted). As a consequence trips to go snorkeling resemble 'Le Mans' starts with dozens of boats all heading out to the same spots. There will be a serious accident before long.
We enjoyed our week there but it could have been so much better.

The beaches were good, eating out sensibly priced.

We have been aching to go here for many years for the peace and quietness and clear blue seas in which to swim and snorkel in. Oh dear. The seas are beautiful but unfortunately that is as good as it gets I’m afraid. We were on Sunrise Beach and the constant rubbish that keeps washing up is unbelievable. The constant noise from the long tail boats make feel like you are sunbathing next to a motorway not in any way relaxing. The main Street “walking street” is so busy. Sadly it wasn’t in any way what we were expecting and we were so glad to get away after 10 long days to our next destination which was Koh Mook where peace and quiet are in abundance.

Had a pleasant stay however its a long way to cone for its claimed amazing beaches when there are so much better ones in Thailand.
Absolutely no entertainment so beware of this , very busy and can get crowded on walking street.
Avoid sunset beach especially when they are removing all the islands rubbish from the Dock there.
You can't see the sunset on this beach and ots covered in flies

It’s a scam when they sell you a day trip from Langkawi. They don’t tell you about the 2 hour processing time to get in boat and 2.5 hour processing to leave Koh Lipe. So you only get 2 maybe 3 hours on the actual island. Total bs!! Don’t do it, at least stay a night or longer if you’re going to drag bags.
