This is one of the oldest shrines in the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage and is found in the lovely mountain village of Takahara. If you are doing the Kumano Kodo, do not miss a chance to get a stamp for your booklet from this shrine.

At the top of the ridge, this ancient location point of worship is currently marked with a beautifully painted Shinto shrine. The huge camphor trees give you an idea of how long this place has been venerated and the many interesting details of the building...More

This shrine is obviously well cared for. It's beauty is enhanced by the wonderful ancient camphor laurel trees around it
