As a treat to myself and spouse while walking the Kumano Kodo, we spent 30 minutes in Tsuboyu Onsen in Yunomine. We were lucky at 3:30pm on a weekday afternoon there was no line so we bought our tickets (770 yen/adult) and went to soak...More

It is great to be by the river soaking in natural thermal water and in your own hut. It is worth it to pay for it. Don't forget to bring your own towel

We came to Yunomine pronounced as You-know-me-meh mainly because of the UNSECO Onsen bath. Be prepared to wait 1.5 to 2hrs if you want use the bath. We decided against it and cooked some eggs instead. You can buy the eggs, sweet potato or corn...More

This is a beautiful little onsen town, full of ryokans and inns for the onsen enthusiast. It's a good place to spend the night if you are walking the Kumano Kodo or going through the sights of the Kii Peninsula.

You buy a ticket in the nearby kiosk. If necessary, you wait your turn. You can browse a few depictions of this ancient bathhouse on notice boards and then in you go. It's really a quaint bamboo shed erected over a tiny natural hot spring...More

Wonderful onsen in a small valley surronded by mountain. We stayed in a small minshukus, the food was fantastic and the bath so hot, but wonderful after walking the Kumono Kodo. Beautiful and relaxing.
