This is my second time to visit this place. The train is cute and the street has a lot of ghost of statues. Recommended place to visit.

Before entering Sakaiminato, we had never heard about Mizuki Shigeru. To get to the memorial,we walked along the main street with all the statues, which was a great introduction to this manga author. Inside the memorial we moved back to childhood and made faces wherever needed in order to become friend with Kitaro. We really had fun until the every... More

This museum features Mr. Mizuki Shigeru who was author of the famous Japanese anime, Gegege-No-Kitaro. Always anime characters were walking around the museum, and people took photos with them.

I grow up reading & watching Kitaro's stories. Mizuki Shigeru memorial hall made me realize that I didn't know much about him after all. Don't under estimate the experience of a soldier in the nasty war.

As there are so many decorations, statues, stamps, paintings and shops along the road, you will expect more for the museum. But it is quite a disappointment that the museum is a tiny one.

For all fans of Gegege Kitaro`s author, Shigeru Mizuki, this is the perfect place for you. This museum itself is quite small and interesting. Ask the staffs for English guide if you do not speak Japanese. The friendly staffs will be more than happy to help you. Despite the museum, the town itself is interesting as everything is themed up... More

Didn't understand 90% of what's going on, but the drawings / art are still very interesting. Folklores from all over Japan can been seen at this one single place. As a foreigner (need to show your passport), you'll get a discount. Make sure you bring this with you. Normal price 700 JPY. Foreigner 300 JPY. **otherwise, if you're a local... More

The museum is not a large place but gives an explanation & understanding of Shigeru Mizuki. It is not well sign posted in English as we walked past it the first time. The staff were very helpful and supplied us with an English version audio & without this, it would have been impossible to understand the significance of this writer... More
