Wanted to experience the countryside break during a 7 day Kyoto stay. 30 min train to Takashima from Kyoto station, from there a 20 minute taxi up the mountain to a bus stop, then an steep walk to this small village with old houses, not many people, close up experience of rice terraces. More than we expected ! Took a bus back (twice an hour), much cheaper and better experience. Afternoon in Takashima, a great great day.
