Since seeing a documentary about this museum many years ago, we have wanted to visit it. The build up in our minds was pretty steep. But we were not at all disappointed. The grounds and buildings are perfect, inspiring. Many think it is too far from Kyoto to see in a day, but it is really easy. Guides, hotel clerks... More

I was attracted to visit Miho Museum as it was designed by I.M. Pei, a famous architect who designed Lourve and the Bank of China headquarters in Hong Kong. Miho site is described as similar as the paradise in the Chinese poem, Peach Blossom Valley and 80% of the museum was buried underground. It takes about 1.5 hours from Kyoto... More

A fantastic museum designed by I.M. Pei who designed the Louvre pyramid entrance in Paris. I plan to return in March 2017.

It takes a fair amount of planning to get to the Miho Museum, which is quite remote. By public transport, it takes 1:15 to get there from Kyoto by a combination of train and bus. The bus runs roughly once an hour. The schedules are on the museum website. Moreover, the museum is not open all year, so check before... More

This beautifully architecture museum is located in the midest of high mountains all covered with trees that looks great both autumn and spring.only about 1.15 h from Kyoto has a beautiful display of Asian art and other great changing exhibitions. Recommended to all art and architecture lovers.

Although this is a little way out of Kyoto, I would highly recommend going to visit this architectural feat. What is amazing to see is how the museum has been built in and around, with total respect, for the natural surroundings. Most of the museum is build underground so as not to disturb the exquisite scenery too. Highly recommended!

Fall colors brillantly decorate the museum grounds and should intensify over the next few weeks, adding to the reasons why the Miho Museum is a 'must see'. In addition to stunning architecture, a beautiful natural setting, a comfortable cross section of antiquities, the current 'Jewels' exhibit and Kenzan ceramics exhibits are superb. Fabulous jewels will amaze in their size and... More

This museum was designed by the the architect I.M. Pei and is very beautiful and far more interesting than the exhibitions.. It is in the middle of nowhere so you need a good half day to go there. When you arrive you don't see the museum, you have to go by a small car through a tunnel to arrive at... More

Wonderful architecture, pleasing to any eye. Beautifully constructed in a marvelous natural setting, Built with stunning materials that produce a building with great feel and presence. Museum I found secondary to the awe of the building. Having said that we wsitnessed a magnificent jewellary exhibition. Apart from the changing exhibits there is a meaningful collection of Egyptian, Roman and Eastern... More
