A nice hike up to the falls. There were many gift stores, food stores, etc along the way, as well as toilets and rest stops. The toilets were surprisingly clean.
I recommend wearing good shoes and socks on this hike. Some parts can get steep. I wore bad shoes and socks and got blisters. Also take note of what time the sun sets, as you don’t want to reach the falls when the sun is already setting!

I've read most reviews saying that the hike up to the waterfall is an easy one, with gentle uphill slope. However, personal experience is that some parts of the hike isn't that easy, and it could take quite a toll on your legs (and lungs). I won't say I'm in bad shape by any means, though I don't exercise as often as I should. Just a heads up to those in the same situation as me.
It was still a good walk up (and down). I enjoyed the scenery thoroughly even though it was in winter, and would love to hike again in autumn.

Beautiful local waterfall that’s located at the top of a small hill, an easy hike up and down, about 1.5-2 hours round-trip. Stunning in fall. You can see a temple and small shops along the way as well.

The place is so wonderful; so refreshing, calm and peaceful.
It is a 2.7km walk!
First time to eat maple leaves.

Great place to reach when you visit Minoo Park. It takes about 1 hour from the station to Minoo Falls. Plain road, and easy to walk on.

Got a wheelchair or baby in a stroller? Come on by. The path is paved from Minoh train station all the way up to the waterfall. Once you’re in Minoh Park, it’s about 2.4 km to the waterfall. You’ll see a lot of trees on the way. (July 2019)

It was an enjoyable walk to the waterfall .
Air is fresh and the footpath is easy to walk.
Suggest to visit May/early June - not too
Cold or hot weather during this period .
There are food streets along the different part of the path towards the waterfall .

This is one of the places renowned for viewing autumn foliage. As such, it was packed on Sunday. The main path up to the waterfall (about 3.5km from the train station) can be quite narrow with such a big crowd. There was a queue for everything and it was quite difficult to walk because of big groups, people taking photographs, strollers etc.

40 min by cab from central Osaka (accessible by train as well), and you are in a scenic park with a very scenic (uphill) walk to the waterfall. The greenery and river provided magical views along the way. We did the main route last year, which was a gentle uphill walk. This time, the main road was under repair due to typhoon damage, so we had to take the hiking trail which was a little more challenging, but perfectly manageable for anyone of average fitness. Mino waterfall at the end of the trail is not the most majestic in existence, but a good reward for the walk. There was adequate food and drink available, with a great value-for-money hamburger at ¥300. Nearer the bottom of the hill was a coffee cafe to rest and give yourself a treat before heading off.

...when i visited in may 2018, the road had been damaged, necessitating a detour on a fairly steep in places trail. so if repairs haven't been completed, wear hiking footwear.

I have not done it myself, but the taxi can take the road that leads close to the waterfall and the walk is much shorter from there. I am not sure if it is close enough for your mother.

Hi!
I read from a different thread that the trail that leads to the waterfall is currently blocked due to the recent typhoon. Also checked the minoo park website that there is a temporary roadblock.
We will be visiting minoo park on the 5th of december. Will this be cleared before we arrive there?
