楠木七城[千早城（千早赤阪村）、下赤坂城（千早赤阪村）、小根田城（上赤阪城の一部 千早赤阪村）、桐山城（上赤阪城の一部 千早赤阪牟エ）、烏帽子形城、龍泉寺城（富田林市）、金胎寺城（富田林市）]の一つと伝わる【烏帽子形城】を鎮護する為 [文明12年（1480）建立]され 国指定重要文化財となっていることから訪問しましたが 建築物としては 特に 顕著な美しさを感じず、観光目的として こちらを訪問すると 少しｶﾞｯｶﾘするかも知れません(添付 写真参照）。 なお 南海電車・河内長野駅近くにある【河内長野市観光案内所】内には【烏帽子形八幡神社】と【烏帽子形城】の模型が置いてあります（添付 写真参照）。

楠木正成の七城の一つがあった所です。楠小二郎が城の鎮守として創建したらしい。
河内長野駅から高野街道を通って20分ぐらいで到着します。石段を100段は有ると思いますが息切らして上がりきった所にお社有ります。

烏帽子形公園の一角にあります。1480年建立の社殿は国の重要文化財で、小さいながらも荘厳さを感じます。鳥居から竹林の中を抜けて社殿に行くルートは神秘的です。
