This is a nice and quiet traditional street at Hita. The building is old and in good condition. The shops are very unique but like the common walking street. Great to spend half day there.

I visited here in June. There were many old houses and the atmosphere was not bad. However, many cars passed the main street of this town and I was not able to relax. I left here in short time.

Walked along the historical streets of Hita City-Mameda machi. There were lots of traditional houses one of which we visited was the Museum of the Hina Dolls. Dolls which were made during the Edo Period were preserved and displayed. Paid an entrance fee of 300...More

In ancient times, the place had long been ruled directly by the central government instead of the local one, for the rich produce and fine artifacts here. People here are still very proud of the golden period in the past. This area consists lots of...More

Starting Kaoru long wine Tibetan Museum, the road to the Edo period, along shops have their own characteristics, and a coffee shop over fifty years, and even the Prince of Japan have visited! From the outside to smell the fragrant smell of coffee, sadly...More

We visited this busy old shopping area but it felt very touristy. The only good thing we bought was Miso paste from a small home factory in a side street. A quick look was all I thought was warranted. It didn't feel the real Japanese...More

Interesting grid of streets, stuffed with shops old and new. Takes about 2-3 hours just to browse all of them. Quaint streets. Reminded me of Matsumoto's old streets but nicer and more shops.
