It’s a short train ride from Yamadera to Yamagata. As the train approaches Yamagata, it passes by the Kajo Park and we got our first glimpse of what was to be a splendid array of sakura along the moat. It’s a short, 10 minute walk...More

About 7 minutes walk from Yamagata station. There is not a huge castle but a greenly park. I saw a lot of people who jog and walk. Unfortunately I didn't enter a museum cause I didn't have much time. It seemed to be interesting.

The castle ruins aren't much to see, but the park is a nice place to take a walk amid greenery and away from city streets. But don't miss the Saiseikan Museum. It was originally a hospital built in 1877 and it now houses medical supplies...More
