Interesting houses, with the occupants watching the tourists with some degree of interest! The gardens are well maintained and the place is lovely. A great place to see.

This is a really peaceful well preserved samurai area and was made more interesting somehow by the fact that people still live in many of the houses. Be careful to pay - it is easy to miss where to do so.

Agree with previous reviewer with surprise at poor reviews, this place is amazing! The gardens are beyond stunning, the houses unique... you really can transport yourself back in time, a place like no other.

Great insight in the samurai culture of feudal Japan. Exquisitely maintained gardens that provide you with intense, yet calming experience.

Place called old samurai district. We walked here from Chiran peace museum. Although it doesn't seem so, you need to buy a ticket to visit. Basically just few old houses and gardens. Explanations are in English and you'll most likely got them when you purchased...More

I walked down 30 minutes to reach this place from Chiran Peace Museum as there are not so many bus connection. You should not walk up from this place to the museum. It is slightly difficult to find ticket office so I came across the...More
