You can walk up to peak and save the money. Up way takes about 40minutes and down way is about 30 minutes.

We parked in the large car park at the bottom the ropeway and saw that a large area of the lower hillside was covered with rhododendrons in bloom. We walked up a gentle path to the base station where we purchased our tickets - we chose a round-trip but you're free to walk one way (or both) if you want.... More

You can enjoy the Nita pass all year long, with Miyama Kirishima azaleas in the spring, dogwood and fresh greenery in the summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and hoarfrost in the winter. You can enjoy the changing features of the mountains and the spectacular view of nature while riding on the ropeway.

The view was excellent especially when we visited the autumnal colors were at its best. From the higher station, we could walk up to the top of the mountain. It was an easy hiking even for older people.

It was a beautiful day to drive up through the Nita Pass. A note about expected wait for parking to the ropeway will be shown before entering the pass road, thereafter there is no U-turn possible. Hence, be sure to check your travel plan/schedule. A small fee donation is asked for. 2 WC spots are noted along the pass road,... More

Most tourist materials will be advising you to take a "taxi" that runs 3 times (return trip) a day to the ropeway station. However, it is actually walk-able (or hike-able) from Unzen city to the station. We spent about 2 hrs leisure hike to get there. The hike was enjoyable and I were definitely not alone. The entrance is just... More

Take oneway bus to the ropeway, use the ropeway and walk down by yourself to Unzen - if you have a good condition. Natural beauty at its best!
