As you exit the famed Itsukushima shrine, you will not miss this humble but beautiful temple. There is no entrance charge and in the absence of any signage you will be left wondering what it is. Do light a candle and offer some coins as donations. There are three structures in all including a gate at the entrance side. The structure... More

This small temple has been overshadowed by the famous Hatsukaichi nearby. Entrance to the temple is free and lots of local people come here to worship with blessings to family members as they do in their normal livelihood. We have visited this typical old styled temple during our stay in Miyajima.

After walking around the backstreets of town for a while I joined the main street again and saw that it was full with people so I decided to go to the Folklore Museum to get away from the crowds. Along the way I stopped at Daiganji Temple near the exit of Itsukushima Shrine along the way, I hadn’t seen it... More

Good things can come in small packages and one gets the feeling that its' small size does not deminish its' importance to those who worship there. Worth a brief visit.

It's nice but it doesn't stand out next to the other attractions. You'll probably see it as you exit Itsukushima shrine.

This is a small shrine that sits in the middle of the area. Quite literally just a shrine and some additional shrines and shops, it's a timely reminder of how spiritual the Japanese culture and people are.

It is located near the exit of itsukushima Shrine, there were 2 wooden statues of protective god that guard the gate. It was quite small but still quite interesting to explore.

Just outside exit of Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island. As other reviewers have said, can be easily missed as it serves as a walkway between two areas. This Buddhist temple does not allow photography of the inside halls but there are a few statues to be seen on the outside. Is still very much in use and free to enter.... More
