I visited Akizuki with my husband in October 2009. I was here as an exchange student in 1977, Living with Japanese families in the town of Amagi (now known as Asakura) I LOVE this place, it is quiet, peaceful, it reflects a more authentic feel of everyday Japan, a place foreign tourists should visit.
