This is a very popular location and we visited on a day where there seemed to be more activity than usual. There were a variety of food stalls and a ceremony occurring in the Shinto Shrine near the start of the walk. There is a...More

The time visited was not the best time of Japan Autumn. However, it doesn't matter. The walking route is fine, full of beautiful plants and color of water in the river. You can enjoy the walking along. On the other hand, please make reservation of...More

It is a river gorge which provides tourists with a good variety of sightseeing and leisure walk along the gorge, up to the restricted mark due to landscape challenge. If you set off early, you may avoid the big crowds of tour groups, who will...More

The views are nice and the trail not too difficult for all ages. The full trail can be completed in slightly over an hour (or an hour if you hurry past the photo ops). Something I wish I knew before coming was transport options and...More

What a hidden gem! We came to Akita mostly for Oga Peninsula and Kakunodate, but both were trumped by these beautiful waterfalls. A pleasant hike in and then gorgeous views. Probably the prettiest falls I've even seen in my many years in Japan.

Summer is not the usual time to visit Dakigaeri Valley and there is no bus that goes that way. I had to take a taxi (3000¥ 1 way) to the start of the valley, but it was very enjoyable. With the well-trodden path to the...More

The trail is very easy to navigate, and is absolutely beautiful. We went a week too early for the autumn leaves, but it was still amazing. The waterfall was breathtaking and we enjoyed the parts of the trail that went through the cliffs. Great afternoon...More

It should be in peak colours normally. But you know, the weather is different every year and no one can be sure.
