It was a magnificent temple. Takeda diamonds were displayed here and there.
The famous mountain gate (of course rebuilt) with the inscription "If you extinguish your mind, even fire will be cool" was also moving. In the treasure museum, there are the famous "Fuurinkazan" flag, paintings of the 24 Takeda generals, and copies of the battles of Kawanakajima and Nagashino. Photography is prohibited inside the treasure museum.

It was magnificent, as it was Takeda Shingen's family temple. It's spacious, and the buildings scattered throughout must be historic. It's a shame that I couldn't take my time to look around. I took a bus to see it while having lunch.
The golden Takeda Shingen at Shingen-kan is apparently looking towards Erin-ji Temple.

This place is famous in association with Shingen Takeda who was a great war time general. He invited his mentor; a great Monk Kaisen to this Temple. So you can see and enjoy association of Shingen and Kaisen here. Temple and its garden is beautiful and very authentic. You can also enjoy some Shingen related items in a small museum nearby. This place is interesting from several aspects and it is worth to visit. However, it is not easy for international tourists to get to and there are only 1 bus every hour from the nearest train station (little English support). The train is also not so convenient from Tokyo. You really need to prepare if you are going there.

Following Shousenkyou Valley, we visited Erinji Buddhist Temple of the Rinzai zen sect in Koushuu City. There are a couple of must sees in this temple founded in the 14th century which is also the burial place of Shingen Takeda. We paid the admission fee of 300 yen to enter the main temple. It is a worthwhile visit to view the interior of the main temple, and in particular to enjoy the beautiful promenade garden designed by Soseki Musou, a zen high priest and master landscapist that designed the garden of Tenryuuji in Kyoto which has been designated a World Heritage. You should not miss the red Shikyakumon (four pillar gate) entry gate to the temple grounds. After the fall of the Takeda Family, Nobunaga Oda’s army set fire to Erinji. This gate was reconstructed by Ieyasu Tokugawa in 1606, and has been designated as a national cultural property.

Although the Erinji Temple was burned down by Oda Nobunaga, the temple grounds are full of cultural treasures, such as the Four-legged Gate rebuilt by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the Sammon Gate built as the scene of a tragedy, and a nationally designated garden of scenic beauty built by Muso Kokushi.
Also a must-see is the Treasure Museum, which displays items related to Takeda Shingen. And although the graveyard is not usually open to the public, it is open to the public on the 12th of every month, the anniversary of the monthly death of Prince Shingen.
By the way, this trip was a true Shingen study of history, as I had also visited Takeda Shrine and the site of Takeda Mansion (both separate Contributions) the day before.

The garden is truly beautiful. It's worth a visit. Looking at a view like this will calm your mind.
Even during Obon, there were fewer people than I expected.
