I have no doubt that when you come here during the festival seasons this park is amazing,l and it still is however I didn't see any tulips in the park itself. Loads of other flowers but no tulips. You can see tulips (and loads of different ones) in the gallery which costs about ¥360 to get in, a small place but OK.
The park itself is lovely and there are some beautiful features if you're into photography.
If you want to come here because of the tulips then research when is the best time.
It's about a 15nin walk from Tonami train station.

Out of season, good place to go jogging or short walks, except when they are planting and spraying pesticides and fertilizer.
In season: Tulips everywhere. And some other flowers. If that's the stuff you like, this park is for you. Actually just in the spring when they have their big tulip festival. Otherwise it's really just kind of like an outdoor venue with lots of gardened spaces. During the festival, there's lots to be seen, especially if you are a fan of plants, bright colors, flowers, or modestly large crowds, or festival food. Little kids might like it a lot, or be really bored. I think one visit is good for anyone, but repeat visits, at least in the same year, might just be limited for those really into this kind of thing. There is also a gasshozukuri house. Anyways, my favorite thing at the festival is the food stands. Try the... Unique flavors of soft serv ice cream (tulip, soy sauce, white shrimp). Actually don't try the shrimp one.

One of the highlights of the tour. Tulips were brought in from the Netherlands. And it grew very well in the environment. Many colours and varieties of other flowering plants can be found here too.

We went for the Tulip Fair and were not disappointed. The park was larger than we anticipated. A great place for family and couples to visit.

Had an enjoyable trip to this park with the Tulip Fair on from 20/4-5/5/2018.
We wonder round the park, admiring the beauty of this park, covered with the many types of colourful tulips and landscapes. It has the Wonder Garden, Royal Collection, Gallery, watermill and windmill. The shibazakura and purple wisteria are beautiful too.
It’s worth our 1000 yen per person, bought at Convenience store. A memorable treasure to be kept in our hearts.

We have visited this tulip park on 24 April and lucky to see that majority of the tulips and sakura inside the park were in full bloom. During the two weeks within the tulip festival starting from 21 April, the park also provided free shuttles from the JR station and this would definitely facilitate international visitors who want to view tulips during this period. We arrived early in the morning and thus have the good chance to take nice photos everywhere within the park because the crowds have not yet arrived. Remember to climb up the landmark of the park in order to have bird's eye-view over the tulip fields underneath.

Our Princess Diamond Cruise will dock in Toyama, and we would like to know if we can taxi to the Tonami Tulip Park, and what will the fare be?
Written 8 March 2017
The Tonami Tulip Fair (となみチューリップフェア) is an annual flower festival held in Tonami City near Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture.
It is going to be expensive if you are taking taxi because the distance from Toyama to Tonami is pretty far. Best travel option is to take a local train.
Best Access Option is by Train.
From Toyama Station take a Ainokaze Toyama Railway train bound for KANAZAWA to Takaoka Station in 20mins (not covered by JR Pass) and change to a JR Johana Line to Tonami Station (20-25 minutes, 240 yen one way, covered by the Japan Rail Pass, one train per hour). The Tonami Tulip Park is about one kilometer northeast of the station. During the duration of the fair, free shuttle buses run frequently between the station and the tulip park.

I will be in Tokyo on April 7 to 14, if anyone can tell me whether the tulip garden is opened to the public during the period mentioned?
