This was an accidental find - we were on our way to Katsuyama Castle. Not one other person around - just trees and moss. Unlike so many other shrines, here you can take in the silence and the spirit of a place set aside.

Hakusan Shrine is a (smaller) reconstruction of a massive temple ground that housed many monks before it was burned down in a revolt. While the temple itself is not very interesting and closed, the forest where it is in is magnificent. Free access. Heisenji is gorgeous place. Gorgeous trees and nature and mystical / Spiritual place. Amazingly gorgeous.
