We enjoyed a 3 night stay in January this year. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the vineyard tour and tasting. The wine and food served in the restaurant were excellent. The room was lovely, relaxing, clean and tidy with a good shower and comfortable bed. We arrived late on our first night and a cold supper and wine had been left in our room which we really appreciated. Also the breakfast brought to our room when we had to leave early. All the staff were lovely but especially Gabriel and Maria. Overall a very relaxing stay.

A wonderful place with wonderful people. Gabriel, the manager and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make our stay perfect. This was the second time we spent time at Matetic Vineyards and we plan on returning.
If you like the perfect atmosphere, wonderful wine and food, lovely rooms and great people, plan a trip to Matetic. Leave room in your suitcase to bring home some wine.

1 - arrived on a Thursday evening and we were received with 2 glasses of white wine and a generous cheeseboard with crackers, chesses and jam. Very good!
2 - played pool that night and went to dinner (salad, congrio with risotto, cream brulet for dessert ) and bottle of Carralillo red blend. Service, food and wine were excellent.
3 - Next day we had a continental breakfast. Service was good but food was ok.
4 - Then we went to the wine testing and Irene (wine tour guide) was very nice and knowledgeable about Matetic wine making process. She also explained the organic process of the vinyard. We tested the corralillo line, SBlanc, Chard, Pnoir, and their flagship Shiraz. Tour was very good, informative and the wines were aromatic with great flavor.
5 - For lunch that day, we had a 4 course meal with each course paired with a wine.
6 - The checkout is at 1pm but since it rained the previous day. The terrain was not good for walking, riding a horse or bicycling. So they let us stay until 6pm for late check out.
PS. I have asked for a detail receipt but I have not received yet.
The house and property are espectacular and the service very attentive. The stay met our expectations to get away and have a quiet day before heading home. The establishment, food, service and specially the wine made it all worth it.
Enrique.

We enjoyed a 3 day stay in the tranquil relaxed surroundings of this beautiful vineyard. The staff were extremely friendly, the gardens beautiful and the wine excellent.

I had a lot of fun discovering and walking around the vineyards, the winery, and the cellar. The guide was very funny and reliable. The vineyards are very beautiful and surround the whole winery. After the tour that finished with a tasting of 3 different wines, I went to the restaurant and Hotel la Casona. Over there, Ignacia showed me around throughout the landscapes and the hotel. My friend and I finished having lunch at the restaurant at the winery which was awesome! Thank you very much for the experience!

We were looking to experience the wines of Chile and had a tour of this great vineyard. Every wine was better than the last and the employees really knew the backstory of how they were grown. Great place to visit.

The vineyard was recommended to us by a sommelier from our hometown and the trip from Santiago to Matetic was booked with TripAdvisor - our first booking experience here.
The visit was a private your and the car picked us up at the hotel. The driver was very careful and well prepared, able to give us information about the area we were visiting. At the vineyard, we had a guided tour with another couple, explaining the specificity of this biodynamic vineyard before the tasting. The property is very nice and tasting room is well equipped, with a nice view. If you've been to traditional vineyards before, this visit will be a special occasion for your wine experience.

We stopped in to tour the vineyard, which was lovely. Had a small plate with some wonderful Matetic wine that was one of our favorite lunches. Nestled under the wood pergola, we feasted on the sights and sounds and tastes of this lovely place.

Note:
This is the second time we visit the vineyard. The first time we had a lovely picnic next to its market (emporio), where we purchased some wine and a cheese.
This review though is about our last experience, and just in connection with the tour their cellar (which we did not do the last time we went there).
Tour:
After making a reservation with some anticipation for our group (6 people), we arrive at the winery just to realize we had to do our tour with a total of approximately 15-20 people and just one guide.
Should we have given notice of this upon making the reservation, surely we would have paid a bit more to have a private tour.
The tour being at their viewpoint of the valley which is nice, then taking you to an overview point of the tanks, followed by a visit to a showroom of their barrels and finalizing with a standing tasting of 4 EQ wines (Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah).
Service:
Extremely poor. Our guide talked about wine and/or wine making with the same excitement one would talk about doing laundry. She knew she was selling cool climate wines but could not go further on the topic should she be required to. It seemed as her script was very limited and that made itself self evident when asked simple things such as, "how much wine do you sell?", "what kind of soil do you have here"?.
In the end Matetic was portrayed to us as an uninteresting commercial winery wherein the top priority when doing tours is to showcase that they are organic (without even explaining why would that be relevant) and that red wine is different from white wine.
Price:
The amount of money to be wasted here amounts for CLP 16,000 per person.
Recommendation:
The vineyard itself is pretty. Their restaurant has good reviews and their wine is good (I particularly like their Syrah very much).
Hence, my suggestion is for you to buy a bottle of wine from their emporio (store) and enjoy their beautiful grounds by yourself.
The tour here is without exaggeration the worst I have ever seen if compared to other wineries in Casablanca, San Antonio, Maipo, Cachapoal and Colchagua.

Take the tour and enjoy lunch in their restaurant. We are from Northern California and we found that the Chilean Syrahs of Matetic were as good or better than those from California's Napa Valley or Coastal (Paso Robles)

Would anyone know if I can ship this wine to Texas? Rather than pack it in my luggage?
Written 5 March 2017
Im from Texas, came back from Chile and spent one night at Matetic. I was impress with their wine but could not find it in Dallas so far. By the way, by law you can only bring three bottles for personal cumsuption. I was in the wine business and you canT ship wine to Texas at less you find a distributor that can bring it into the state for you.
