About
The Yokoyama observation area offers views over the Ago Bay. There are several observation decks connected by a promenade, and take-out food can be purchased at the Tenku Cafe Terrace rest area. The surrounding area is rich in nature and a recommended hiking spot.

Unexpected stop from Ise. I'd say it's good if you have a car otherwise probably not worth it. We came on a rainy day and the parking lot at the top was free. This way you don't have to walk up from the gift shop near the bottom. There are numerous trails and lookouts and even coffee shops near the top. Nice view of the inlet and surrounding islands. If you look north east you apparently can see Mt Fuji but it was too cloudy for us. It's a national park so don't pick anything and observe the wildlife. Look for this bird. Has the funniest name " Varied Tit" Unfortunately i didn't see any variances.

Think this would be some nice hiking if it was a nice day. Lots of nice spots to sit

The long walk up to the deck is rewarded by a great panorama and a good cafe. If you cannot manage the journey, you can get a taxi to the top car park and use the easy smooth ascent to the deck. We all (4 to 69 years old) enjoyed the walk, view and ice cream.

Used to be hard to get there. Now if you came by a Kintestu train you can get a 500yen coupon for a taxi to get you there straighly from and back to Ugata station. No stairs, and no parking to think about. Pretty confy. The cafe at the top was really cool. Wish there was more space to sit.
If you decide to come by yourself you'll have to park either at the top (car only and up to a certain number of car), of at the other parking (bike/car/bicyles..) but there are a 10 minute set of stairs to climb to get to the top parking.

We visited early on a beautiful clear cool day so visibility was high. Great panorama using a long lens. A few short walks around the forest. Lots of good photos including colorful wild flowers. Also a small kiosk & clean toilets in the shade under the deck.

There's many spots after the main view point, high recommended to go further. There is cute cafe selling soft serve and sandwiches on the main observation deck. They had amazing soft serve!

They’ve done a lot of work up the top close to the car park, with viewing platforms galore. Can get pretty busy, so either wait to be let to the top car park or have a decent walk from the lower one. Many trails lead off to different view points from the top, but beware the paths become less and less developed the further you get on from the base.

It was part of our trip in Ise area and this sightseeing point gives the overall view onto this peninsula. Rich of natural things like trees, herbs and livelihoods.

Visiting Yokoyama observation deck is one of the few interesting spots in Shima. I drove here before heading to lunch in Kashikojima where is about 20 minutes away. There is a visitor centre showing the natural landscape and species found in the national park. The time I visited the road from the visitor centre to the observation deck is closed. Therefore visitors have to walk uphill for about 20 minutes to the observation deck. There was a construction to rebuild a new and bigger observation deck and there was a smaller temporary observation deck in place. The projected new observation deck will be more spacious and magnificent.

The weather of the day was overcast but the view was still spectacular. Many small islands and waterway in between makes it a special picture.

Beautiful views, nice walks. We went in early October and it was perfect weather for this kind of walking. Multiple look out spots over the mountain.

It took about 1 hour walking from the bus stop and it is worth it. The sign is very clear and there is a visitor center before a more challenging trail going to the deck.
