We couldn't resist the tempting hot snacks so we grabbed some cheesy fries, a couple of Cappuccino's, our favourite gelato flavours and then headed to the site. I strongly suggest you fill your bellies too because, you will need the energy to walk around the trail. We were there last summer but it was still very cooling as it was raining for the past few days. Oh my God! On the path to the lake, the landscape surrounded this lake alone was already so breathtaking...beautiful green pine trees, the fabulous Dolomites mountains range with clouds just resting above it against the bright blue sky....ridiculous! As we walked further towards the platform slowly getting a glimpse of the waters, the lake against this whole backdrop was simply gorgeous. After what felt like hundreds of photo/selfies, we took a left and followed a trail, just strolling in between huge pine trees, admiring even the slightly damp grounds, parts covered with moss, mulch, insects, breathing in fresh air ...just admiring and enjoying the time , counting our blessings to even have the opportunity be a part of this place. After two hours roaming around, we ended up taking a spot at the right side of the lake snapping countless more photos amongst the many professional photographers already there. Don't ever miss this beautiful lake!Visited June 2022Written 16 February 2023

At all. But it is a pretty little lake and the colour does change with the clouds and light of the day.Visited May 2023Written 31 May 2023

You can’t go to the lake itself, but there is a nice walkway around it through the forest. Well worth a visit, but keep in mind it gets very crowded during the day.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 August 2023

Lago di Carezza what a beautiful lake, a place to see if you are planning to visit the Dolomites or if you staying in Bolzano there is a bus which takes about 50 minutes to the lake, if you don’t have a car

A beautiful and peaceful alpine lake and nature preserve. Come early to avoid the crowds. Easily accessible by public transit from Bolzano.

This is a nice lake to visit in Val de Fassa.
At this time of year the lake is not at its best as the water level is low, however you can still see the colours of the trees reflected in the water.
There is an easy 15 minute walk around the lake.
Parking can be difficult to find, very cheap €1 per hour. There are shops and a couple of restaurants here also.

While I cannot agree with another reviewer's assessment that this is better than Lago di Braies, it's still very pretty, though miniscule. The color of the water is superlative and the mountains make a great backdrop. We were in a rush and only spent 10 minutes there, but it justified the overall 1 hour detour to see it.

I would sound strange here, because everybody loves this lake so much, but my husband and I were kind of disappointed when we saw it. We arrived at the end of September on a sunny beautiful day. Parked at the big parking nearby (very convenient). When we approached the lake, we were a bit shocked how small it was. We didn’t know this before, but apparently the lake is the fullest in spring when the water comes from the mountains when everything melts. And in this season it’s very tiny. I guess it just didn’t meet our expectations. It looked different on photos. The panorama is enjoyable though. The water has a beautiful color and the mountains on the background look like a stunning frame. One more thing: in the morning when we were there, the sun was coming from the side of the mountains which was not very good for photos. Pictures came out pretty anyways, but you couldn’t see the texture of the mountains. So my recommendation is to choose carefully the right season and the right time of the day for your visit.

The lake is nothing but real! So clean and the colours are as you see them in the photos. Parking is 1EU/hour. We got there around 3.30pm and had no problem parking. Worth the visit, especially before tourists realise its existence as they did for Braies:)

Buonasera a tutti.

How can we go there by public transport from Bolzano train station? How long does it take to reach to do a short trip???

It is very easy to reach this lake by bus from Bolzano bus station. You need to buy ticket at the station (around 5€) and in 45 minutes you will be at Lago di Carezza. You can buy ticket there and back, and there are schedule. As I remember bus to and from stops every hour or maybe hour and half. Good luck!
