We visited during the low season, and yet the whole time I felt like I was at a theme park without rides. I'm glad that there are millions of Mazu worshippers, but how authentic is this experience? Expensive statues are great and all, but this...More

This local temple is dedicated to the goddess of the sea. Do like the locals, and walk up from the ferry landing. It's not very far, and the walk is pleasant enough. A good half-day distraction if time permits.

The ferry crossing to the island is not a pleasant ride unless you're able to take the faster boat. Lots of temples within the grounds to visit, and additional admission to see the statue of Mazu (half price for foreign passport holders).
