For about 7 rmb you can take a public mini bus to this location. Not much to see or do there. But being amongst the coconut palm trees is nice. The local people are kind and eager to talk to any foreigners. Fresh coconut juice for 5 rmb is very refreshing and delicious. They could make this place a real tourist destination but I don't see that happening, too bad.

Pleasant bike ride, but not so special if you've been to other parts of the tropics. I'd recommend coming here to find a good lunch spot to relax at for awhile.
My friend recommended a very good one, about halfway down the north - south road through the plantations (country rd 185). It'll be on the left side as you head south, with a big yellow sign with the four characters: 椰子公园 (coconut park). Once you start down the short driveway, you can see two wood buildings (unusual for the area) to be sure you're in the right place. If you're traveling alone, you can ask for a small Wenchang chicken (xiao wenchang ji)-- they'll serve it to you in two ways, half boiled in a coconut broth and half stir fried in a tasty sauce. Both were excellent.
I continued on to the end of that road, but when I saw there were closed resorts and not easily accessible beaches nearby, I lost interest and turned around. My friend did say that you can find nice empty beaches if you try enough side roads, so might be worth the effort if you have the time.

We were staying at the Hilton 30 minutes away so we paid this place a visit because there is nowhere else to go.
First the signage by the freeway makes you think that it's a nature reserve but instead it was just a large area with abundance of coconut trees & the locals trying to make a buck out of it. The Main Street has hole in the wall stands selling coconut drinks & souvenir. Walking into the prima resort, you get to see some 3rd rate sandy beach with 1 star accommodation... Really nothing to write home about.
This whole area really has nothing exciting going on except the government assisted real estate hype. Many of the signages are advertising for "future" development, not for something currently existing. That said, I hope the government knows the potential for something amazing if they get their acts together.

While its important not to get expectations too high, apart from lots of trees and some small towns there's very little to see. Along the beach some hotels, very touristy spot selling stuff made from coconut shells. Prices for coconuts were 6rmb, same as anywhere else these days. Was hoping for a little educational info about the industry, uses for cocoonuts, etc. perhaps one day there will be a coconut museum where we can learn about it.

The coconut forest is a lush forest. The beach was ok, water not so clean as they were doing some construction on the pier. The Green-ways for bike riding we delightful, the bike paths go through various villages and jungles. Lots of mosquitoes, bring pants for outdoor dining.

In the past, the coast of this area had a beautiful beach, popular with international tourists. Now, every visitor is left disappointed. The government for some reason decided to build an artificial Island with nothing on it, which has destroyed the natural environment. The original sand is beautiful at the top of the beach but it turns to silt as you get close to the water. And there was nobody swimming in this water.
It's such a shame, because the coconut tree forest is lovely to drive through, and by all means it should be a fantastic tourism area. I feel sorry for the locals, who had no say in this 'development'.
It's worth a visit if you're nearby, just for the impressive coconut trees. But don't come for the beach.

Not even a real beach, as there’s pretty ugly artificial island right in front, with no less ugly concrete bridge (didn’t even take picture). Would probably look little nicer in the sunny weather, but in general a huge disappointment, especially after very nice drive trough real coconut forest and villages on the way to it. Place with great potential, but now it’s not developed into some nice commercialized tourist spot nor looks like wild untouched nature.
