Winter is a great time to hike this gorge: we had it almost entirely to ourselves. The waterfalls were really lovely, the wall burials were fascinating, and the canyon walls were awe-inspiring.

Picturesque and an easy decent down lots
Of steps into the canyon, very pretty
Indeed and can be combined with a trip to the Bifengxia Panda reserve. Allow at least 3 hours for a leisurely decent

We loved it, a magnificent 90 minute to 2 hour walk with lots of water, waterfalls, pools hanging coffins, huge cliffs and green vegetation.
Do it later in the day after taking the free bus and visiting the Pandas first. It will be almost all the way downhill from the base (the uphill is sometimes quite steep) and also the later in the day you walk , the fewer people you will encounter.
Do not miss it!

This hike is well worth any ones time, I was really impressed at the amount of workmanship that went in to making all of the steps. The paths are well suited to any one even older people. Along the way you get to see some great waterfalls and there are many stalls with food and water, some souvenir too. At the end of the hike there is a small area of stalls/shops and an elevator which takes you right back to the car park.

The canyon is really beautiful and worth a visit, but the panda center was quite disappointing today. We only saw 4 or 5 including 3 were sleeping. The baby pandas are moved to Wolong until October 2015 but nobody has informed the tourists on the official site or anywhere else. Anyway, we enjoyed a lot the canyons so the visit was still pleasant.

Tips: if you want to see the pandas, better go to Wolong before October 2015 or come back to Bifengxia after October 2015.

This canyon goes on almost forever and is so worth a visit.
We even got to pet a baby tiger at the end!!! Try asking for that in an English zoo???
For the very worn out there is a long lift out which rather spoiles this part.

Since you're in the area already, might as well walk through this canyon because there is nothing else better to do in this area except for the Panda. The walk is not natural trekking, as with most Chinese attractions, takes about 3 hours and very enjoyable once you get passed the first half an hour. Some of waterfalls are very pretty and the fee is included in the ticket price with Panda Reserve (180Y)

After seeing the pandas, I decided to walk back via the trail which is quite easy to find after a short walk on the road from the panda base. It's not a true nature hike, as the path is almost entirely in concrete. Nevertheless, the weather was a cooling low 20's C and there was no crowd.

The scenic spots was not fantastic. Although there are a few spots like the waterfall or lake, but it wasn't what I was expecting. The panda base is more worthwhile if you are in that area.
