Eng Alm is a real hidden gem in the Austrian Karwendel Alps, First of all, even being in Innsbruck or any other part of Tirol you can only access it by driving the unique road through German territory, i.e. the Risstal Landesstrasse. Once you enter again Tirol, Hinterriss is the first village to pass on your way to your destination... More

Seeing these old and beautiful trees among the valley surrounded by the majestic mountain walls can really takes your breath away! One of the most beautiful places in the Karwendel!

Or better yet, stay awhile. Spectacular and amazing vistas. Rare mountain maple groves and a collection of 10 farmers grazing cows who undoubtedly make some of the best cheese anywhere. This is of course also a great set off point for mountain hiking and wandering. I haven't stepped inside the big alpengasthoff operation and always head just to the small... More

Große Ahornboden (Big Ground of Maple trees). This is a place at the end of a road titled as "Risstal Landesstraße" whose address looks like Großer Ahornboden, Risstal Landesstraße, 6215 Eng - Austria My visit was on a sunny day in Summer. An excellent location for a day or even two. A perfect location for those who like to see... More

They was no further charge for parking, Even though when we set off walking it was raining we still still found the walks beautiful & photogenic. During the night it must... More

Grosser Ahornboden means something like big maple grounds. It is at the end of a street for which you have to pay a fee (Maut) to travel on - but it is so worth it. Once at the parking there is no fee to enjoy the beauty of nature. There are several huts here where you can get something to... More

phantastic scenery, especially in late september and beginning october. An autumn dream: yellow leaves on the trees, green grass, white snow on the grey rocky mountain-walls, and a steely-blue sky!
