The Tarot Garden in Capalbio is amazingly beautiful and interesting, especially if you are a fan of tarot cards. The Empress "card" became Niki ,the artist's home ,with a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and dining room ! It is an artistic masterpiece, well worth visiting for both adults and children. The book on the garden ( The Tarot Garden by Niki de Saint Phalle )is... More

It's a magic and fantastic place, evocative of exoteric atmospheres immersed in the Tuscany countryside, nearby the Argentario peninsula. Niki de Saint Phalle being inspired by the Parque Guell by Antoni Gaudì in Barcelona created a unique place where our feelings, instinct and happiness are mixed together in a colorful environment. Don't miss.

This place is a "must see" for everyone interested in modern art before it will be worn out by time. It is completely outrageous, out of this world! Sculptures are not beautiful but unusually eccentric and exciting - full of colorful mosaic and chips of mirror. You can actually go inside them, there is actually an entire apartment that was... I remember that I’ve seen lots of fat female colorful figures in the stores some years ago and when visited Stockholm, I got more interested in learning the works of this artist (Niki de Saint Phalle) This attraction is to be visited on purpose (know it beforehand) or luck of the draw if happen to be in the area since... More of a setting for guadi type figures than garden. An amusing experience. It was nice to see the childish expressions on show. Children and adults included. I would not recommend it for its botanical presentation.

We drove there in the expectation to visit the garden in a sunny Sunday of January. What a mistake: it is only open from 1st April to mid-October. And only in the afternoon. You only discover it arriving there, as its website does not say anything. So I decided to add this review just to alert others... and to motivate... More

Several years ago, I read about the Tarot Garden by Niki de St Phalle. Our family was in Italy, so we drove around until we found Il Giardino. Terrific experience. Lots of wonderful and outrageous sculptures. Definitely worth the time to visit, if you like fantasy art. She has another sculpture garden in Escondido, CA.

This place is dazzling! Niki de Saint Phalle created a colorful outrageous fantasy land that will blow you. It is modern and wildly imaginative and a complete non sequiter in Tuscany - but that part of what makes it do special. Only open in the afternoons this place gets crowded and be prepared for lots of kids.

There is not too much to talk about, you should come and see this magic place with your eyes! It is in the middle of the country side of Capalbio with olive trees and hills around you.

If you're wondering whether to go or not, take my advice and go for it! :) Right in the middle of the super touristic Tuscany and next to the big crowded beaches you'll discover this gem of creativity and will surely enjoy it. Everything is so unreal, it feels like being in some sort of "acid trip" in the style... More
