As we walked from Tsumago, we came across a guide map of Magome, the Jippensha Ikku Monument, and the impressive Togenomito Shotoku Monument. After this, we came across a watermill and other buildings, before arriving at this observation deck. It was surprising to learn that the Battle of Komaki Nagakute took place here. The Tokugawa clans of Suganuma, Hoshina, and Suwa set up camp here, so it looks like a good place to set up camp, and so it got its name. The view is excellent, with low mountains stretching out from Magome towards Nakatsugawa, and the scenery is simply beautiful. I've heard that the sunsets are nice here, so next time I'd like to come and see one.

You can see the mountain range making up the Kiso Valley of which Magome is a part. There are several Japanese signboard which I don’t understand but makes for good photo opportunity. Must come.

We started up here before walking down to Magome-juku. It is a short walk up the street and here you get a very scenic view of Mount Edna and Magome-juku.

Just an open area at the top of the hill on the Magome main street (where it heads out of Magome towards Tsumago). Good views over some valleys to Mt Ena. You'll see it whether you're walking the trail or just walking to the end of Magome.
