It is good location and very pleasant experience.

Tips:

Start early reach base by 9 am or 10 am.

We were couple with kid visited this place on Tuesday not sure because of this but except initial few stalls in middle there is no place to buy water or food.

So carry water and something to eat while climbing. We carry fruits and water which helped us.

It took us almost 1.5 hours to reach top. First half is difficult and after that it's easy to climb.

There are two- three small stalls at top where you can eat snacks or order meal.

A lovely place to vist. Leave your vehicle at the hill footstep. Free parking. 700 steps to climb. But actually each step is around 3 meters long. So in short its around 2000steps walk. But you won't notice the climb as its not that steep. It took me 2.5 hrs till top hill, visted the temple 1.5hr and back down 2hrs. Total 6hrs trip was worth it. I stopped many times to take a break. V.imp.... please carry water and some snaks.(plz dont throw empty wrappers after eating and litter the forest). You'll get stalls selling water and food only at the temple premises. FYI: All food or water 10/- extra than normal rates.
Best time to visit is monsoon season June-Oct- enjoy the greenery, rain, walking through clouds. Its just marvelous! I visited this place in july 2022 will upload few clicks hope youll find it useful.

Best time to visit :- Monsoon.
650-700 steps climb, the 1st 200-250 steps are quiet stiff, later its just a normal walk and it doesnt take much energy and time.
As you go up there is a foggy wheather, do visit in monsoon , its going to be a memorable trek and you can feel the almighty presence with cold breeze around.
Carry your food and water as there are no shops around , that is one reason which makes the place neat and tidy.
Dont forget to visit opposite side of the temple there is a small old crooked temple and the view near that temple is mesmerizing.

This temple is situated on a hill , around 13 kms from Alibaug , it has around 700 steps to climb son not suitable for senior citizens who have Knee problems or climbing problems. It can be a very good group trek best period to visit November to January that is in winter .You have to have a car to reach base , there is free open parking . On reaching top there are 2 small restaurants from local where you can get tea ,coffee, lunch etc but it is better to carry water bottles and dry snacks as restaurants are small and lunch has to be ordered first before visiting temple

Take a catamaran, from Gateway of India then head straight to Mandwa jetty. You will get autos/cars/ vikrams to go to Kanakeshwar temple. On the way, you can eat snacks. Then you need to climb long stairs of the volcanic mountain. Never mind, you wont feel tired because you will get fresh air full of oxygen. Mahadev will be found on the top of the mountain, amidst Prakriti-his ardhangini!
