About
Southeast Asia is usually associated with a wet, tropical environment, but, in the area of Mui Ne, Vietnam, lays a beautiful desert. white sandunes is 50km away from mui ne central ,the city of Mui Ne is four hours from Ho Chi Minh City, in the south of the a further 45 minutes, and you arrive at Bau Trang, Bau Trang, or the White Sand Dunes, is one of the only desert areas in Southeast Asia and is a beautiful expanse of dunes and sand. There are no camels here; instead, shepherds herd cows through the sandy expanse. Perhaps the most striking part of the area is a small lagoon covered in lotus flowers. Beside the lake, there is also a small pine forest that makes the wind cool, even in the hot Asian desert.

Who knew Vietnam had desert-like landscapes? Sandboarding down the dunes in Mui Ne was a surprisingly fun and unique experience.

Are these drivers trying to kill tourism here ? It sure feels like it !! They are only interested in $$$$ sure this will help you for the next 12 months but nobody will be visiting in 10 years time. The government really needs to
Manage this area properly.

We were overcharged and then given half the time on the atv that we were promised. But don’t question the locals because they will just threaten you.

Do yourself a favour and visit Hoi Ann or Da Lat. this place has gone to the dogs :(

It’s wuite far from Muine(around 15-20kms) , Riding on sanedunes by jeep with driver or ATV car is such a pricey experience , 15-20 minutes for 10 dollars on shred jeep vride, 20$ for ATV ride. It’s quite windy on top the sand dunes , there is also lake down there. Nothing extraordinary here.

The jeep was overpriced and ticket places seemed to try and get the most money possible - some friends were chanrged more than me, over the double, depended on person country etc. The jeep itself was OK, no seat belt and blasted music. Seemed to swerve a bit into the middle of the road but generally 'safe'. The driver took me to the white dunes first and there I was confronted with hundreds of people waiting for quads for the 10 minute ride up the dunes. I was asked for more money, friends of mine were assked for the double. There were ticket guys everywhere and everyone as annoyed with me for saying no, the driver went off to play cards somewhere for half an hour before coming back and looking annoyed. Then we headed back and stopping at the red dunes which were wonderful, quite dramatic and where you could walk up. On any future trip I would either hire a motor bike to the red dunes, or take a taxi. The white dunes are a mafia tourist trap and should be avoided at all cost. Go to the red dunes instead!

We left at 4:45 with a Jeep, we got down to White sand dunes about 5:30 where we had 2 choices either rent an ATV for 800,000 don Per 20 minuts. Or let Them drive for 300.000 Per person wich i Think is very expensive + it was Gilles with turists.

Sadly another nice natural sight has become over commercialised by locals preying on tourists. It’ll cost 800k vnd to get there from Min Ne, then another 800k to cover the 15 min walk to the dunes…

All tours will take you to the Fairy stream (which is a small stream of water with both sides covered in trash), a viewpoint of the fishing boats and the white + red sand dunes.
The white sand dunes are picturesque but small, not worth the entire trip. The red dunes are even smaller, in fact it’s just one small hill of sand

Unclear pricing and agressive welcome, avoid. Changed the price agreed when we arrived there, and then as we didn’t want to pay more they threatened us (a family and 3 kids) to let us there and come back hôte by a walk (more than 15 kilometers). 10 years ago you could go there without the current people managing the area. Another beautiful landscape privatize by greedy anti-tourism companies.

The sand dunes and the sceneries are amazing. But the rental car drivers and operators are reckless idiots. They allow young children to get on the jeeps and no safety instructions. Drivers drive very fast where people are standing. Accidents are waiting to happen. Someone could get run over by any driver.

We reached there in the evening to watch the beautiful sunset. We ride a 4WD vehicle to go to the top of the white sand dunes hill. It’s thrilling and adventurous. The wind is so stong and you can feel the sands chit your face. Adviseable to wear mask/scarf. My kids love it so much.
